NEW YORK (AP) — The Federal Aviation Administration reported delays in air travel Friday because of a "slight increase in sick leave" at two East Coast air traffic control facilities.
The delays come as a partial government shutdown threatens to undermine the nation's air travel system. Air traffic controllers and airport security agents have been working without pay since the federal shutdown began in December, but high absentee rates raise the possibility of long airport lines, or even worse.

A day after technological problems delayed hundreds of flights, operations appear to have returned to normal Monday for Southwest Airlines.
Southwest said that it was still working to get some delayed or displaced customers into open seats and to deliver baggage, but it expected the technical systems that run its customer service to perform normally.

THOMSON, Ga. (AP) - Investigators combed Georgia woods Thursday for clues about what led a small jet to overshoot an airport runway and crash, killing five people on board and injuring two others.
Among the seven passengers on board when the plane crashed Wednesday night were five people who worked for a vein clinic in Augusta in eastern Georgia, according to a doctor who works at another Vein Guys clinic in Nashville. It was not immediately known if any of them survived.
