Live on the Green. Spanish Gold, The Weeks, City and Colour kick off the concert series at 6 p.m. Thursday. Since its inception in 2009, more than 200,000 fans from 29 states and 10 countries have attended the free outdoor music festival. It also has hosted more than 70 artists, including Alabama Shakes, Local Natives, Band of Horses, Matt & Kim, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Matt Nathanson, The Wallflowers, Citizen Cope, Dr. John, The Wailers and more. This year’s lineup:

Summer of Street Food

A gathering of 15 to 20 local food trucks. This event will take place every other Thursday through August 21. Trucks will be parked on Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North. Information: www.nashvillefoodtruckassociation.com.

Junior Achievement Awareness Breakfast

More than 300 business people will gather at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel to learn about the Junior Achievement organization and what it offers to the community. Dr. Randy Lowry, president of Lipscomb University, will offer the keynote address. Attendees are being invited to the event by Junior Achievement Board Members and other supporters. Members of the public are invited to attend as well. In addition to Dr. Lowry, Junior Achievement students, volunteers, teachers, and Board Members will speak, sharing about their experiences in the program and the impact it has made in their lives. Junior Achievement offers programming for kindergarten through twelfth grade students focusing on entrepreneurship, work readiness, and financial literacy. Solar Workshop for Homeowners

LightWave Solar will present a Solar Workshop for Homeowners to explain the process of installing solar at your home. Presentation will cover the basics: How solar works, solar equipment and costs, roof and shade requirements, and an overview of available tax and utility incentives. Social Enterprise Shared Interest Group

For those who measure success according to the “triple-bottom-line” philosophy (people, planet, profit)? The Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Social Enterprise Shared Interest Group, led by Evan Owens from centresource, launched in March 2013. Courtyard Concerts

Food truck fare and free lunchtime music from the John Jorgenson Bluegrass Band at the Downtown Library, 615 Church St. The 2014 Courtyard Concerts series, now in its 11th year, is funded by the Nashville Public Library Foundation and supported by media sponsor The Nashville Scene. Concerts will run every Tuesday, 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m., through Oct. 7. Performances are informal and unseated, so guests can bring lunch and drop in to hear music in the Robinson Courtyard, located on the Library’s second floor.

  • Aug. 19: The WannaBeatles
  • Aug. 26: Sara Sant’Ambrogio, a cellist who has played Carnegie Hall and with symphonies across the U.S.
  • Sept. 2: Annie Sellick and the Hot Club of Nashville. Gypsy swing band playing songs from the 30s and 40s.
  • Sept. 9: Acoustic songwriters Session with Marshall Chapman, David Olney and RB Morris.
  • Sept. 16: Riders in the Sky
  • Sept. 23: Mandy Barnett singing pop and country music. She played Patsy Cline in a Ryman production.
  • Sept. 30: Mr. Sipp sings Mississippi Blues.
  • Oct. 7: San Rafael Band. Latin jazz fused with salsa, blues and rock.

HR Excellence Awards Luncheon

Established to recognize and foster human resource excellence among Middle Tennessee organizations, the HR Excellence Awards program is based on the scrupulous HR principles of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Program.
