Titans at Bills: What to watch
Titans (1-4) at Bills (3-2)
Sunday, Oct. 20
Noon Highmark Stadium, Orchard Park, N.Y.
TV: CBS Radio: 104.5 The Zone
The Titans, already struggling at 1-4, find themselves now a daunting two-game road trip at Buffalo and Detroit. It will be a big ask, but here are the Titans best hopes for pulling an upset against Buffalo.
First down
Run the ball effectively. The Titans’ best hope might be to run the ball often and run it well. They can’t ignore the need to gain yards with the pass the way they have the previous two games, but it does start with running the ball to keep it away from Josh Allen and the Bills offense.
Second down
Take care of the football. Will Levis has been putting the ball in harm’s way too often as he learns Brian Callahan’s offense. The Titans need some explosive plays from the pass game, but Levis has to take care of the football and not have it intercepted.
Third down
Win the turnover battle. In conjunction with not turning the ball over themselves, the Titans also need to get some turnovers themselves. They have one interception and two fumble recoveries this season in five games. That is not enough to help out an offense that is struggling to score points.
Fourth down
Win the fourth quarter. Other than their victory in Miami, the Titans have not scored in the fourth quarter in their other four games this season – all losses. Being able to get points at the end of the game is critical for improvement.
