Cheekwood Summer Nights Party is set for Friday at Cheekwood Botanical Garden & Museum of Art. The 7 p.m. event starts with live music from the San Rafael Band and hors d’oeuvres and cash bar on the Museum loggia. At 9, there will be a screening on the lawn of The Great Gatsby. Music on the Lawn series continues Friday at Woodland Presbyterian Church, 211 North 11th Street. Picnics are encouraged, and food is available for purchase from local groups, with proceeds benefiting local charities and non-profits. 6:30 p.m. This event is free and family-friendly.

Intellectual Property Seminar. The law firm of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC will present on Thursday the first in a series of seminars focused on the basics of intellectual property issues for advertising and marketing professionals. The first seminar will explore the basics of trademark law, including best practices for use of trademarks and how proper use can add value to a client’s intellectual property portfolio. 22nd annual Nashville Lawn & Garden Show, Thursday-Sunday, features more than 20 live gardens and is the largest gardening event in Tennessee. The show also features speakers, thousands of blooming flowers and plants, a floral design gallery, and 250 exhibit booths filled with horticultural products and services, gardening and lawn equipment, outdoor living decor, and a variety of plants, seeds and bulbs. A free screening of "Inside Job," Charles Ferguson's Academy Award-nominated documentary on the behind-the-scenes causes of the 2008 financial meltdown, is being hosted the College of Arts and Sciences at Lipscomb University, Wednesday, 8 p.m., at Ward Hall. The Future of Afghanistan will be discussed Wednesday when Gary Moorehead of the Marigold Fund in Afghanistan speaks at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church.
