The boys of summer

Midstate stars celebrate a season for the ages

Something wonderful happened for Nashville sports fans this summer. While the city’s country music stars belted out their smash songs on various downtown stages at the four-day CMA Music Festival, some of Nashville’s most gifted athletes produced an incredible array of hits all summer long on glittering stages across the globe.

What Middle Tennessee's stars accomplished

By Oct. 1 when people in Nashville were first getting wind about the meningitis outbreak that has to date infected 63 people and killed eight across the state, local and national health officials had already been hard at work since Sept. 18 trying to identify what patients were sick with and how it happened.
