Regions Insurance Group purchases Story Capital

Regions Bank has purchased Story Capital Group, LLC, and hired James Story as employee benefits consultant. In his new role, Story will lead business development efforts, maintain client relationships and consult with bank customers regarding employee benefits including health, life and disability insurance.

In addition to founding Story Capital Group, LLC, Story’s professional experience includes positions at Barbour Griffith and Rodgers, LLC, a government relations firm in Washington, D.C.; Southeast Financial FCU and Northwestern Mutual Financial Network -- both of Nashville.

Story is a graduate of the University of Mississippi’s School of Business. Active in the community, he serves on the boards of Phoenix Club of Nashville and Leadership Brentwood, on Cumberland University’s Business Advisory Board, and as an Ambassador to the Entrepreneur Center. In 2010 he was named to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s “30 Under Thirty” in Nashville list.

Regions also has added Amanda Weeks-Geveden as a private wealth advisor. A Regions veteran with experience in both the Middle and East Tennessee markets, Weeks-Geveden previously served as private wealth advisor in Knoxville.

Baker Donelson adds 2 in Nashville office

Martha L. Boyd and John M. Scannapieco have joined the Nashville office of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC.

Boyd and Scannapieco, who join as shareholders, were both previously with Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP.

Scannapieco, who was the leader of Bradley Arant’s China practice team, joins Doreen Edelman of Baker Donelson’s Washington, D.C., office as co-leader of the firm’s global practice team. His focus on international law includes working with a variety of U.S.-based companies in connection with their business activities in China, Japan, Europe, the Americas and Africa.

He is counsel to the Tennessee Chinese Chamber of Commerce and a board member of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce’s International Business Council.

Boyd concentrates her practice on labor and employment law and employee benefits litigation. She has represented employers in all types of litigation in state and federal courts and assists employers in assessing and reducing risk associated with personnel decisions and policy implementation.

After serving in the U.S. Army for six years on active duty as an intelligence officer, Boyd continued her service in the reserves, serving as a civil affairs officer with the 350th Civil Affairs Command in Baghdad, Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2010, she was appointed by Gov. Phil Bredesen to the Governor’s Council on Service Members, Veterans & Their Families.

LBMC’S McDougal named to AICPA committee

John Mark McDougal, CPA and partner-in-charge of the Accounting and Assurance Services Division of Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain, PC (LBMC), has been appointed to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Technical Issues Committee of the Private Company Practice Section. This will be McDougal’s third year in this position.

The AICPA Technical Issues Committee acts as the voice of the practitioner in the technical standards setting process.

McDougal has more than 16 years of diversified accounting experience. He has worked with a variety of industries including manufacturing and distribution, retail, employee benefit plans, investment partnerships, not-for-profit organizations, insurance and Sarbanes Oxley internal control matters.

LBMC also has announced three new hires:

Jessica Toney has joined the firm as a staff member in the Tax Department’s Tax Services division, focusing on tax compliance and consulting for mid to large sized companies. Previously serving as an LBMC tax intern, she has already completed one tax season with LBMC. Originally from Brentwood, Toney is a graduate of Lipscomb University with a bachelor’s degree as well as a master’s degree in Accountancy. In her free time, Toney enjoys playing tennis and spending time with my family and friends.

Chris Floyd has joined the Brentwood office in a staff position in the Accounting and Assurance Services department. Floyd completed an audit internship at Deloitte, a tax internship at HCA, and most recently was a tax analyst at Asurion.

Brad Bonde has been hired as an audit manager with the Healthcare Services Assurance team. Originally from Kiel, Wisconsin he previously worked as an audit manager in the health care division at Crowe Horwath, LLP.

CCA hires Churchill as senior director

Corrections Corporation of America has hired David K. Churchill as senior director of organizational development.

Churchill, who will be based at the CCA Facility Support Center in Nashville, most recently served as vice president of talent management at Tractor Supply Company. Among his other senior positions were director of leadership and talent at Ingersoll Rand; senior vice president of learning and organizational development at Bank of America, and senior manager of global leadership at Seagate Technology.

Lifepoint Hospitals grows operations leadership

LifePoint Hospitals has added Paul Cleckner as vice president of operations and process initiatives.

Cleckner, who has more than 30 years of operations and management experience, will oversee the selection and execution of strategic business initiatives at the company’s Hospital Support Center in Brentwood. He comes to LifePoint from Medical Reimbursements of America, where he served as president and COO.

Previously, Cleckner was with North Highland Consulting, where he developed and led its Strategic Growth Services practice, a new service line for the company’s Nashville office. Throughout his career, Cleckner has served in a number of other leadership roles for key organizations, including senior vice president of Emdeon Business Services, COO of Asurion Managed Wireless, and president and COO of Investment Score Card.
