Bone is now president, CEO of Bone McAllester Norton

Charles Robert Bone has been elected president and CEO of Bone McAllester Norton PLLC, Nashville’s sixth-largest law firm. He succeeds the late founding member, Mike Norton.

Charles W. Bone continues as chairman of the firm, and Sam J. McAllester III will continue serving as vice chairman.

Charles Robert Bone concentrates his law practice in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and advising emerging businesses, entrepreneurs, officers and directors and governmental entities, including serving as general counsel for the Convention Center Authority of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.

He has been instrumental in developing several Tennessee-based companies as an entrepreneur, investor and board member, including as a founder of Phoenix Boats in Winchester, the Southern Steak & Oyster restaurant and Acme Feed & Seed.

Following an unsuccessful run for Nashville mayor in 2015, he was appointed earlier this year by Mayor Megan Barry to the board of directors of MDHA, the Metropolitan Development Housing Agency.

He is a graduate of Rhodes College and earned his law degree from Vanderbilt University.

Bass, Berry & Sims welcomes 5 from h3gm

Bass, Berry & Sims this week announced the addition of five more attorneys from Harwell Howard Hyne Gabbert & Manner (h3gm).

The two firms combined in February and announced 10 attorneys would move from h3gm to Bass, Berry & Sims. The five additional attorneys – Lara Flatau, Nathaniel F. Greene, R. Davis Mello, Ryan M. Richards and Brad J. Sayles – joined those 10 this week.

Flatau focuses on regulation, compliance and operational issues, as well as mergers and acquisitions for health care companies. Flatau earned her undergraduate and law degrees from Vanderbilt University.

Greene, who works with clients across a variety of industries on commercial real estate and financing matters, earned his law degree from the University of Tennessee and holds B.S. and B.B.A. degrees from Middle Tennessee State University.

Mello advises clients on corporate and securities matters, including mergers and acquisitions, venture transactions, private securities offerings, public company reporting obligations and corporate governance; he also assists clients with intellectual property and technology transactions. Mello earned his law degree from Vanderbiltand his B.A. and a B.S. degrees from Miami University.

Richards counsels clients on a variety of corporate matters including mergers and acquisitions, dispositions, leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, joint ventures and private offerings. He earned an LL.M. in taxation from Georgetown University Law Center and a law degree from Emory University School of Law. He earned B.A. and B.S. degrees from Middle Tennessee State University.

Sayles assists clients with respect to government enforcement, compliance, health care fraud and abuse and general day-to-day operational matters. He earned his law degree from the University of Kentucky and M.P.A., a B.A. and B.S. degrees from Northern Kentucky University.

Skanska promotes staff, expands Nashville presence

Skanska USA recently promoted David Cripe to vice president of operations, Jenny Chandler Graham to marketing director, Shelby Adams to senior director of communications for the Midwest Region and Beth Miller to senior director of communications for the company’s Northeast Region.

Cripe, who has 19 years of experience in program and project management in the health care, institution and commercial construction building markets, will oversee and manage different aspects of projects such as the schedule, budget and operations, to ensure that each client’s goals are met. In addition to serving as an operations executive, Cripe is on the local leadership team for Skanska’s Franklin office.

Graham, also based in Skanska’s Franklin office, first joined Skanska in 2004 as a summer intern and joined the company full time in 2005. In her new role as marketing director, Graham will collaborate with the company’s regional marketing directors to ensure the alignment of process and product across all of Skanska’s five Centers of Excellence.

Originally from Dickson, Graham earned a degree in marketing from the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Adams, a Nashville native, has been with Skanska for 15 years. In addition to leading communications and public relations efforts for the company’s operations in Tennessee, Texas, Indiana and Ohio, she has also led several national initiatives for the company, including the launch of Skanska USA’s first Diversity and Inclusion Week in 2013.

She holds a degree from Lipscomb University.

Miller, also a Nashville native, joined Skanska in 2010, and has helped build and protect Skanska’s brand on both the regional and national levels. In addition to overseeing all internal and external communications in the Northeast region, which includes New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Massachusetts, Miller manages national communications strategy for Skanska’s USA’s Commercial Development group and plays point on AB’s brand standards for the U.S.

Miller graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in communications.

Loews Vanderbilt names executive chef

Veteran culinarian Silvio Rosalen has been named executive chef at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel.

Rosalen joins Loews Vanderbilt from its sister property, Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando Resort. There, he served as executive sous chef and helped oversee all culinary operation, including its five restaurants and banquet kitchen. He also worked for Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando Resort and Loews Regency Hotel in New York in his more than over 20 years of hospitality experience.

His dishes have been featured in numerous culinary competitions, including the American Culinary Federation’s USA Culinary Cup Challenge in 2011, 2012 and 2015.

A native of the New York area, Rosalen graduated from Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island with a degree in culinary arts.

Southern Land hires chief investment officer

National real estate developer Southern Land Company has hired Mark Degner as chief investment officer. In this senior-level position, Degner will lead Southern Land Company’s long-term diversified growth strategy across all asset classes and markets.

Degner brings a strong investment background to Southern Land Company, previously serving as the co-head of Americas Real Estate Directs and Primaries at private equity firm Partners Group in San Francisco. While there, he was responsible for real estate acquisitions and investments in North and South America for the Switzerland-based firm.

Degner is a graduate of the University of Southern California and holds an MBA in real estate from The University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

Lifepoint Health names 2 directors to board

LifePoint Health today announced that Kermit Crawford, retired president of pharmacy, health and wellness for the Walgreen Company, and Jana Schreuder, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Northern Trust, have been named to its board of directors.

Until his retirement in 2014, Crawford served for more than 30 years with the Walgreen Company, the largest drugstore chain in the United States with more than $103 billion in sales reported in fiscal year 2015. Most recently, he was president of the Walgreen Company’s pharmacy, health and wellness division, where he was responsible for all aspects of strategic, operational and financial management for the division.

Crawford also is a member of the Board of Directors of Allstate, the second-largest personal lines insurer in the United States. In addition, Crawford has served on the Board of Councilors of the University of Southern California School of Pharmacy and in 2014 joined the school as executive in residence and senior advisor to the Dean.

Schreuder serves as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Northern Trust, a leading provider of wealth management, asset servicing, asset management and banking to corporations, institutions, affluent families and individuals that reported revenues of $4.7 billion in 2015.

Prior to her appointment as COO in September 2014, Schreuder served in various capacities with Northern Trust during her more than 35-year tenure, including as president, wealth management; president, operations and technology; and chief risk officer.

Griscom moves from Avenue to Pinnacle

Jimmy Griscom has joined Pinnacle Financial Partners as a senior vice president and financial consultant for Pinnacle Asset Management.

Most recently, Griscom was a vice president and broker for Avenue Bank. His 31 years of financial services experience include managing director positions for Waddell and Associates, Avondale Partners, LLC and Equitable Securities/SunTrust Bank, and senior vice president roles with Morgan Stanley Capital Markets and Lehman Brothers. He is a graduate of Sewanee: The University of the South.
