NASHVILLE (AP) - The Senate has unanimously passed a bill seeking to establish minimum signage requirements for Tennessee business owners who want to ban customers from carrying firearms inside their establishments.
The bill would require signs to have the language "No Firearms Allowed" written at least 8 inches wide and an inch high, along with an image of a gun with a slash drawn through it.
The chamber voted 32-0 on Monday to approve the bill sponsored by Republican Sen. Mae Beavers of Mt. Juliet.
The House had approved its version of the bill on a 92-2 vote last year, but would have to approve a minor change by the Senate before bill could head to Gov. Bill Haslam for his consideration.
