Montle
Gary Montle has been named shareholder at Patterson Intellectual Property Law, P.C. A registered patent attorney, Montle has been with Patterson since 2008.
Prior to attending law school, Montle was an electrical engineer with Beta Lasermike, Inc. He then earned his J.D. at Vanderbilt University Law School. While there, he was an intern with the World Intellectual Property Organization in Switzerland.
He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a degree in electrical engineering.
Lazón to lead mayor’s Office of New Americans

Mayor Megan Barry has selected Vanessa Lazón to lead the Office of New Americans, serving as the director of community inclusion within the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhoods and Community Engagement.
The Office of New Americans will be a part of the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhoods and Community Engagement and will serve to fulfill their joint mission of amplifying the voices of all Nashvillians in the governing process.
Lazón moved to Nashville from Lima, Perú, in November of 1997 and graduated from Glencliff High School in May of 1999. She is a graduate of Lipscomb University, a former MyCity Academy participant and co-chair of the Mayor’s New Americans Advisory Council and Metro Parks’ Celebrate Nashville TEENS United Committee.
Lazón has been youth engagement coordinator at Oasis Center since 2008, where she has served over 900 international youth and their families through the implementation of the International Teen Outreach Program (ITOP).
Under Lazón’s leadership, her students have volunteered more than 7,600 hours in Nashville, which has helped them discover their ability to contribute to our community by achieving concrete and tangible goals that make a difference in other people’s lives.
Nashville Emerging Leaders announces 2016 class
Nashville Emerging Leaders, an annual leadership program that brings together some of Middle Tennessee’s most promising young professionals with the region’s top community and business leaders, has announced 26 members for the class of 2016.
Beginning in February, class members will participate in an 11-week program, during which they will discuss critical issues facing our city and explore their own leadership styles and capacities.

Bhatia takes leadership role at Capella Healthcare

Vishal Bhatia, MD, MBA, has been appointed senior vice president and chief medical information officer for Capella Healthcare.
Bhatia has served as a consultant and physician advisor for Capella since 2014, leading the development of the company’s evidence-based order set templates and physician documentation templates, as well as assisting with implementation of Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
A board-certified internist, Bhatia has been in practice at Capella’s Willamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville, Oregon, since 2006. He served most recently as medical director of the hospitalist program and has held numerous leadership roles at the hospital, including chair of the department of medicine.
Bhatia also serves on the Board of Willamette Valley Health Solutions, an accountable care organization, and is clinical assistant professor of internal medicine with Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California.
He earned his doctor of medical degree from Tver State Medical Academy in Tver, Russia, followed by an internship at Northern Railway Central Hospital in New Delhi, India. He completed a residency in internal medicine at The University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. Since then he has earned an MBA with a focus on health care from George Washington University in Washington, DC.
Battle of Franklin Trust announces New Board
The Battle of Franklin Trust has announced a new board of directors for 2016.
Previously, there was a board of directors for Carnton Plantation, The Carter House and The Battle of Franklin Trust. There is now a single board of directors for The Battle of Franklin Trust, following several months of work to merge the three organizations into one. The new board includes five members from each of the pre-existing boards.
The organization’s hope is that merging of all three boards will create a unified platform to further tell the story of The Battle of Franklin and its deeply important historical significance as well as play a vital role in continued efforts toward battlefield reclamation and the implementation of The Battle of Franklin Trust master plan,” says Marianne Schroer, chairman of the newly consolidated board.

New COO joins TriStar Summit Medical Center

Drew Tyrer has assumed the role of chief operating officer for TriStar Summit Medical Center in Hermitage. Tyrer most recently served as chief operating officer of TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center in Smyrna.
Tyrer earned a degree in sport administration from University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio, and his master’s of sport administration from the University of Louisville in Louisville, Ky.
Tyrer later earned a master’s degree in health care administration and an MBA from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is also a graduate of HCA’s Chief Operating Officer Development Program.
LifePoint Health appoints Clark, High to VP posts
LifePoint Health has appointed two new vice presidents at the LifePoint Health Support Center in Brentwood: Phillip Clark has been named vice president, HSC accounting, and Tizgel High has been named vice president and associate general counsel, physician services.
Clark
In his role as vice president, HSC accounting, Clark provides strategic leadership for the accounting and financial reporting responsibilities for the HSC.
He is responsible for directing the review and delivery of various accounting, financial and budget information to management at different levels within the organization, including the executive leadership team.
Before joining LifePoint, Clark served as accounting consultant for Change Healthcare (formerly Emdeon, Inc.) and as accounting consultant for SpecialtyCare, Inc. He earned a master’s in accounting and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee.
High
High has been promoted to vice president and associate general counsel, physician services. In this role, she provides legal counsel to LifePoint’s employed physician practices and to the physician services department to ensure awareness of and compliance with all applicable laws and company policies and procedures. She provides legal guidance and support on a variety of matters, including healthcare operational and regulatory issues, physician and business arrangements, mergers and acquisitions, and joint ventures and syndications, among others.
Before joining LifePoint, High served as operations counsel at Community Health Systems and was responsible for providing legal counsel concerning hospital operations issues for CHS-affiliated hospitals in eight states.
High earned her J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in ecology and evolutionary biology from Princeton.
Barrett named F&M Bank director

Brad Barrett, former president of The Tennessee Bankers Association (TBA), has been named to the F&M Bank board of directors, according to Sammy Stuard, president and CEO.
Barrett joins the bank on the heels of its recent sale to Nashville-area businessman Gaylon Lawrence Jr.
Barrett served as president of The Tennessee Bankers Association from 1992 until 2013. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, having earned a degree in finance. He subsequently completed the Institute for Organization Management program at the University of Oklahoma.
Professionally, Barrett served two terms as chairman of the board of trustees for the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University. He has been active in the American and Tennessee Societies of Association Executives. He served as a member of the board of directors and executive committee of BancInsure and served as an executive committee member and past chairman of the State Association Division of the American Bankers Association. In addition, Barrett served on the board of directors of the Tennessee Senior Housing Crime Prevention Foundation.
Boston Mutual welcomes regional VP of sales

Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company has added Franklin’s Kevin Poynter as regional vice president of sales to its Workplace Solutions division. He is responsible for managing the regional sales team in the Southern region.
Most recently, Poynter was the regional practice leader at Humana in Nashville and Tampa, Florida. Prior to joining Humana in 2009, he served as regional manager for ING Employee Benefits in Florida from 2007 through 2009.
Edison School names Dopp headmaster

The Edison School has named interim head of school Rebeckah Dopp as head of school.
Dopp has been on staff since 2013, teaching language arts and math in gades 5-7. Dopp took over as interim head of school in September 2015. She holds a master’s degrees in special education and science from Lipscomb, and a bachelor’s degree from Trevecca.
