NASHVILLE (AP) - Democratic Senate candidate Gordon Ball is pouring $1 million of his own money into his campaign against Republican incumbent Lamar Alexander.

Ball is a Knoxville attorney who largely self-funded his primary campaign with $408,000 of his own money. His campaign did not say how much he had raised from outside sources in the filing period that ended Tuesday.

Alexander's campaign had raised $6.3 million and had $2.2 million remaining on hand through the first half of the year. But Alexander has also not yet revealed how much he had left following the Aug. 7 primary - or how much he has raised since then.

Alexander is a former governor seeking a third term in the Senate.
