Sybert
Capella Healthcare has announced the appointment of Troy E. Sybert, MD, MPH, as executive vice president and chief medical officer.
In addition, Richard W. Brasher, CPCU, ARM, has been named vice president of risk management.
Sybert comes from Wellmont Health System in Kingsport, where he served as chief quality and medical information officer since 2010. An integrated health care delivery system, Wellmont owns and operates six acute care hospital facilities and two nursing homes, in addition to diverse ambulatory operations, located in northwest Tennessee and southwest Virginia. Prior to that, he was chief medical officer for the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, for four years.
Brasher
He earned his medical degree from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 2001, completing a combined internship and residency in internal medicine and general preventive medicine.
Brasher, prior to joining Capella, Brasher was for six years vice president of risk management for Vanguard Health Systems. He previously was vice president with Marsh, and was the outsourced risk manager for Vanguard for nine years.
Brasher holds a degree in marketing from the University of Alabama.
YWCA names five to 2014-2015 board

The YWCA of Nashville & Middle Tennessee has elected four new members to its board of directors and a Young Leaders Council board intern for the 2014-2015 term. New members include leaders in the athletic, legal, business, nonprofit and volunteer communities:
Funk
Beth DeBauche is the commissioner for the Ohio Valley Conference, the seventh full-time commissioner in the 66-plus year history of the OVC and is one of only nine females to be the head of a Division I Conference in 2014-15.
Glenn Funk is the newly-elected district attorney general for Davidson County. He is a veteran trial attorney with more than two decades of courtroom experience as a special prosecutor, assistant district attorney, public defender and attorney in private practice.

Sunny Spyridon is a native of Nashville and has worked for Leisure Management International and the Country Music Association. She then began her own company and worked on large-scale local events such as the Country Music Marathon.
Mary Winn Pilkington is vice president of investor relations and public relations for Dollar General.
Dr. Kimberly Clay is the Young Leaders Council intern for this board term. She is founder and executive director of Play Like a Girl, a Texas-based not-for-profit organization committed to ending childhood obesity in girls by delivering the early experiences girls need to develop a lifelong passion for physical activity.

Academy of Medicine names executive director
Leslie
The Board of Directors of the Nashville Academy of Medicine have hired Rebecca Leslie as the organization’s new executive director.
Leslie is an experienced non-profit leader with a passion for serving Nashville’s physicians and health care community. She joins the Academy from her position as VP of talent development at the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, where she led the effort to ensure that the workforce met the needs of the region’s expanding economy.
Founded in 1821, the Nashville Academy of Medicine is Tennessee’s oldest county medical society. Since its founding, it has produced eight presidents of the American Medical Association and 44 presidents of the Tennessee Medical Association.
Southeast Venture adds commercial broker
Darby
John Charles “JC” Darby, Jr. has joined Southeast Venture as a broker and will focus on office tenant representation.
Most recently, Darby worked as a construction management assistant for The Beach Company, a commercial real estate firm based in Charleston, South Carolina.
Darby is a University of South Carolina graduate and earned his MBA from The Citadel Graduate College.
McGimsey joins Emerald Spectrum
Brentwood-resident Jennifer McGimsey has joined Emerald Spectrum Advisory as a financial advisor.
The certified financial planner and certified public accountant has more than a decade of experience in the financial services industry. In addition to her CFP and CPA, she is a member of the Financial Planning Association and is a registered representative and investment adviser representative of Commonwealth Financial Network.
Nashville Area Chamber announces three new hires

The Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce has hired of three new staff members. They are:
James March, new member representative, will be responsible for helping new members join the Chamber and ensuring they are benefiting from their memberships. March was previously an account executive at McQuiddy Printing.
Hollingsworth
Bradford Hollingsworth, director of sponsorship, will be responsible for managing a Chamber-wide sponsorship sales and fulfillment program. Hollingsworth has previously held positions with Country Radio Broadcasters and the Nashville Predators.
Mark Drury has accepted the position of director of communications and marketing for the Chamber. In this role, he will oversee the Chamber’s public relations, communications strategy and branding.
Bradford Group adds account associates

The Bradford Group announced the addition of two account associates to its team: Alexandra Newby and Audrey Vermilyea.
Vermilyea
Newby comes from Kentucky Arts Council, where she worked as a communications assistant. Previously, Newby gained experience in campaign projects through two marketing internships.
Vermilyea graduated in May with a double major in marketing and management from University of Alabama. Most recently, she worked as a project director for University of Alabama, where she oversaw marketing teams that serviced clients in the automotive and tech industries.
McNeely Pigott & Fox hire account executive

McNeely Pigott & Fox Public Relations has added Katie Coppens as the firm’s newest account executive.
Coppens is rejoining MP&F after spending a year and a half in Albuquerque, N.M., with ABQ Health Partners.
Prior to her move in 2012, Coppens worked as a staff associate and associate account executive with MP&F, serving such clients as the Tennessee Titans, Harpeth Hall, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Job Corps program and the Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference.
The A Group adds Wright, promotes Marsh

The A Group, a full-service marketing and technology firm specializing in the Christian and nonprofit industries, has added Robert Wright and promoted Diana Marsh to executive vice president.
Wright
Wright joined the team as the director of technology, while Marsh, an agency veteran who has been with The A Group for seven years, was promoted to executive vice president.
Wright comes to The A Group from Illinois, where he managed DxR Development, a software development firm, for more than 20 years. He has led several teams in creating software titles and custom web applications for Fortune 500 companies ranging from education to financial management and health care.
Formerly vice president of technology at The A Group, Marsh now oversees direction and operations for all of the agency’s teams. Previously, she served for seven years as the manager of client services for Alcott Routon, a large direct marketing agency.

Prior to Barge Waggoner, he spent his entire 36-year professional career with Jordan, Jones & Goulding (JJG), purchased later by Jacobs Engineering Group, where his most recent role was director of construction contracts and specifications.
Family law attorney joins Stites & Harbison

Attorney Brenton Lankford has joined Stites & Harbison, PLLC in the firm’s Family Law Service Group. His practice focuses on domestic relations, probate administration and probate litigation.
Lankford has served as a judicial clerk to the Judges of the 21st Judicial District of Tennessee.
He earned his J.D., cum laude, from Mississippi College School of Law in 2011 and his bachelor of science degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 2008.
