NASHVILLE (AP) — Metropolitan Nashville residents are 12th in the nation for volunteering, according to the annual Volunteering and Civic Life in America report.
The report comes from the Corporation for National and Community Service, a federal agency that helps Americans engage in volunteer activities in their communities.
The new report found that nearly 31 percent of Nashville metro area residents volunteered in 2012. In total, nearly 340,000 volunteers gave millions of hours of service.
Tennessee as a whole ranked 37th in the nation, with nearly 25 percent of residents volunteering statewide.
