Turner to remain caucus chairman

NASHVILLE (AP) — State Rep. Mike Turner has decided to remain House Democratic Caucus chairman.

Turner, who has served in the role for five years, said last month that he planned to step down in January because of philosophical differences with the state's Democratic Party Chairman Roy Herron.

But caucus spokesman Sean Braisted said Turner decided to stay in the position after talking with many of his House colleagues and receiving their support.

Braisted says Turner will stay on through the end of his term in 2014.
