Saint Thomas Health has named Jennifer Elliott, RN, vice president of Clinical Operations and chief nursing officer for Saint Thomas West Hospital and Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital.
Most recently, Elliott served as vice president of Clinical Operations and chief nursing officer for Saint Thomas Midtown, formerly Baptist Hospital, where she worked with senior leadership, implementing strategic plans and objectives, while also developing and maintaining patient-centered care initiatives in collaboration with Saint Thomas West medical staff and hospital nursing staff.
Elliott began her career at the former Baptist Hospital in 2001, where she has served in various leadership roles including charge nurse, nurse manager, and director of Emergency Services and Critical Care. In these positions, she led the development of various projects including the formation of the Baptist Hospital transfer center and implementation of the computerized physician order entry technology in the emergency department.
Elliott was awarded Nurse Executive of the Year in 2011 from the Tennessee Hospital Association.
TriStar Centennial taps new director of marketing
Selina Staub has been named the director of marketing & public relations for TriStar Centennial Medical Center.
Staub joins the TriStar Centennial leadership team from Wuesthoff Health System in Rockledge, Fla., where she was the system director of marketing management/communications. In this role, she led the strategic marketing, communications and business development efforts for two full-service acute care hospitals, a skilled nursing and assisted living facility.
Prior to Wuesthoff, Staub was the chief operating officer fellow for Largo Medical Center (HCA) in Largo, Fla., where she was involved in project management and research for primary, secondary and tertiary markets.
Clemmons & Clemons opens downtown office
Local attorneys John Ray Clemmons and J. Michael Clemons are launching Clemmons & Clemons, PLLC, a boutique civil litigation and general practice law firm. The new firm’s downtown offices are located in the Stahlman Building across from the historic Metro Courthouse.
With a combined 13 years of experience practicing law in state and federal courts across Tennessee, the firm represents businesses and individuals, as plaintiffs and defendants, on a wide range of legal matters.
Three attorneys join Nelson Mullins
Real estate attorney Tim Meyer is one of three to join Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP in its Nashville office, where his practice focuses on real estate, mergers and acquisitions, corporate and loan transactions.
Meyer has a decade of experience in commercial real estate with a focus on the health care real estate sector and the REIT industry. He advises clients on acquiring, leasing, financing, managing, developing and selling commercial real estate.
Meyer earned his Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University Law School and an MBA from Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management.
Thallen Brassel concentrates on business, tax, and insurance regulation law. Brassel advises clients on business formation and planning, estate planning, and tax aspects of various corporate transactions, including lending and borrowing arrangements, securities offerings, and bankruptcy restructurings. She is a former associate with Burr and Forman LLP in Nashville and Milbank, Tweed, Hadley and McCoy LLP in New York.
Lori Brewer practices in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, debt financing, and business technology. She represents clients in connection with angel, venture capital, and debt financing. She also represents portfolio and growth companies and negotiates from both vendor and supplier perspectives, including cloud computing and network based application hosting agreements. She previously served as an associate in the Banking Department of Otterbourg, Steindler, Houston & Rosen P.C. in New York and in the Global Finance/Corporate Department of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP in Charlotte, N.C.
The hirings come on the heels of the Firm’s move to One Nashville Place in early August. The Firm opened its Nashville office in 2012 with six attorneys and now has 10.
Cabedge names director of creative, development
Cabedge Design, LLC, a subsidiary of Atiba Holdings, LLC, has named Joe Wallace director of creative & development services. Wallace joined the Atiba family in 2011 and has been working closely with the Cabedge team since early in 2012.
Wallace’s previously served Atiba was as senior developer/programmer for Atiba Software.
Frost Brown Todd adds new associate
Matthew S. White has joined Frost Brown Todd as an associate in the Nashville office practicing in the Regulatory Business Group.
Prior to practicing law, White was a consultant for Booz & Company, where he worked with domestic and international clients in the automotive and industrial sectors. There, he advised clients on a wide array of strategic, financial, and operational matters. His business experience includes strategic growth through mergers and acquisitions, turnaround strategies for financially distressed entities, and complex supply chain management.
White attended both law school and engineering school at Washington University in St. Louis.
Fowler Bell welcomes Ellison as member
Attorney Matthew D. Ellison has become a member of Fowler Bell PLLC, joining members Guy R. Colson, John E. Hinkel, Jr., Barry M. Miller, Casey C. Stansbury and managing member, Taft A. McKinstry.
Ellison joined Fowler Bell’s Litigation, Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights Groups in 2005 and since has gained significant experience in his employment law and workers’ compensation litigation practice representing local, regional and national clients.
Cheekwood adds two to leadership teams
Beth Murdock joined Cheekwood as the organization’s new chief operating officer, and Scott Glasgow has assumed the role of director of events and food service. Both bring decades of valuable experience and perspective to the Cheekwood team.
Murdock oversees the organization’s finance, technology, security, human resources, volunteer and visitor services departments. She also is responsible for all of the organization’s sales functions, including retail, restaurant, catering and rentals.
She comes to Cheekwood from the Nashville Zoo, where she served as administrative director for nearly a decade. She also served nine 9 years as senior director of the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
Glasgow is responsible for the planning and execution of Cheekwood’s special events, from weddings and corporate gatherings to Cheekwood’s in-house events and more. He also oversees rentals, catering, and the Pineapple Room Restaurant, working closely with Murdock concerning budgets, operations and staffing.
He brings 20 years of special events experience to the organization, with a focus on catering and marketing. He previously served as director of corporate events for Incredible Dave’s, a dining and entertainment venue.
Fifth Third Bank adds to retail operations
Fifth Third Bank has added three new employees to the Tennessee affiliate’s retail division:
Dennis Stallings joins Fifth Third as assistant vice president and membership banking officer, bringing 12 years of sales experience, most recently employed at Coca-Cola North America as a national sales executive. Stallings also played in the NFL for the Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens from 1996-2001. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Education/Speech Communication from the University of Illinois.
Josh Hugh returns to Fifth Third Bank as officer and financial center manager for the Spring Hill banking center. He originally joined the bank in 2009 as a personal banker at the Old Fort Financial Center in Murfreesboro and was consistently recognized as a top performer during his tenure. Hugh earned his bachelor’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University.
Lauren Godwin joins Fifth Third as a personal banker at the Belle Meade banking center. She was previously employed at Wells Fargo as a private mortgage banker. Godwin has worked in financial services for three years and is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in biology.
Also, Jared Autrey has been promoted to district manager for the East Region.
Autrey joined Fifth Third Bank in 2010, serving as assistant vice president and financial center manager for the Indian Hills Banking Center in Murfreesboro, and most recently the Northlake Financial Center in Hermitage.
As district manager, he will manage the Nippers Corner branch in Brentwood and lead a district which includes the Bell Road, Nashboro Village and Willowbrook Financial Centers.
VUMC’s Patel now chief medical informatics officer
Neal Patel, M.D., MPH, has been named chief medical informatics officer for the Vanderbilt University Health System.
Patel, professor of Clinical Pediatrics, Clinical Anesthesiology and Biomedical Informatics, Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, has served as the inpatient chief medical information officer at Vanderbilt University Health System since 2006.
In his new role, Patel will provide leadership for translating VUMC health care delivery, quality and patient safety goals into informatics strategies to optimize the delivery of patient care.
He will collaborate with operational and clinical leadership to foster systemic adoption and effective use of clinical applications to promote patient safety and high quality care across the continuum, and reduce the costs of care, in support of the VUMC mission.
