Myers
Corizon, a provider of correctional health care solutions, has hired Woodrow A. Myers, Jr., M.D. as its new CEO.
Myers was formerly the executive vice president and chief medical officer of WellPoint, Inc. and has served as director of health care management for Ford Motor Company. He has also served as the health commissioner for the city of New York and the state of Indiana.
Myers earned a bachelor’s of science with honors from Stanford University. He then went on to obtain a doctor of medicine from Harvard Medical School and completed his internship and residency at Stanford University.
He also holds a master’s degree in business administration from Stanford University Graduate School of Business. Additionally, Myers has served on Stanford University’s Board of Trustees and Harvard University’s Board of Overseers. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine and Master in the American College of Physicians.
Myers has been a member of the board of Valitas, Corizon’s parent company, since 2011. He also serves on the board of directors for Express Scripts [ESRX] and Stanford University Hospital and Clinics. Dr. Myers will remain a board member for each of these organizations.
Mohan becomes associate at Sherrard & Roe
Attorney Amy Rao Mohan has joined the law firm of Sherrard & Roe, PLC as an associate in the firm’s litigation group. Prior to joining Sherrard & Roe, Mohan was law clerk to Judge Gilbert S. Merritt, United State Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, in Nashville.
Mohan earned her J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law, magna cum laude, where she was Order of the Coif. She served as Moot Court board chairperson in her third year, and was a staff editor of the Tennessee Journal of Law and Policy. She earned several honors, including the Chancellor George Lewis Award for outstanding leadership as chair of Moot Court Board and the Susan B. Devitt Award for Excellency in Oral and Written Advocacy in 2011 and 2012.
Mohan earned a B.S. in journalism at Northwestern University in 2002. Prior to attending law school, Mohan was a reporter at WTVF in Nashville.
Originally from Tampa, Florida, Mohan lives in Nashville. She is a member of the Nashville Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
Avenue Bank adds four to its team
Kelly Weathers, Ellen May, Craig Gardella and Christy Caudill have joined Avenue Bank.
Weathers serves as a new vice president, mortgage loan originator, for Avenue Bank’s Mortgage Team. Weathers brings almost 20 years of banking and mortgage lending experience, having spent the last 14 years at SunTrust.
May has joined Avenue as a vice president, mortgage loan originator and senior relationship manager in the Music and Entertainment Private Banking division. She has more than 25 years of experience in mortgage banking and has been recognized by the Nashville Mortgage Bankers Association as a top producer for several years. May most recently worked for SunTrust Bank, where she has been originating for the past 14 years in the Music and Sports/Entertainment Division.
Gardella joined Avenue’s Commercial Division in August of 2013, with more than 30 years of experience as a corporate, commercial and health care lender and executive. He also was senior vice president, finance & treasurer of a nationwide health care company. He joins the bank’s commercial team as the senior vice president, director of commercial and industrial banking.
Caudill joins Avenue as senior vice president and manager of Treasury management/systems administration with more than 20 years of experience in banking. Most recently, she was with CapStar Bank, where she managed the Correspondent Banking and Treasury Management business for the Operations group.
Metropolitan Bank hires new Nashville associates
Metropolitan Bank, which recently opened its Nashville headquarters on West End and added a branch on West gate Circle in Brentwood, has added three new associates to its team.
Lynne Hollingshead has been named client services advisor in the West End office. She previously was assistant to the chief executive officer of Vivere Health.
Carly Porter has been named concierge in the bank’s West End office. She has worked in numerous project design roles in Nashville’s music industry, and has administrative experience with various companies in the city.
Christen Rutledge joins the bank as a concierge in the Brentwood office. She previously served in a variety of customer service roles for Publix Super Markets, Inc.
Clinical Scientist joins Aegis Sciences Corporation
Aegis Sciences Corporation, a forensic toxicology and health care sciences laboratory, has named Dr. Ali Roberts as clinical scientist of health care services.
Roberts will assist in the growth of service lines by offering guidance on health care research and outcomes, answering pain management and toxicology-related questions that arise during patient treatment, and providing continuing education related to health care and drug testing practices.
Prior to joining Aegis, Roberts was a pharmacy resident at Memorial Hospital, where she developed a strong foundation in pharmacotherapy, operational and practice management.
McCabe inducted into Business Hall of Fame
Rob McCabe, chairman of Pinnacle Financial Partners, will be inducted into the Nashville Business Hall of Fame on Oct. 30.
The Nashville Business Hall of Fame is hosted by Junior Achievement of Middle Tennessee and recognizes the city’s outstanding contributors to business and philanthropy.
McCabe was selected for the Nashville Business Hall of Fame Committee, which is chaired by past Nashville Business Hall of Fame inductees Joe Scarlett (2009), patriarch of the Scarlett Family Foundation; Ron Samuels (2010), chairman, president and CEO of Avenue Bank; Hal Pennington (2011), former CEO and chairman of Genesco, and Mark Emkes (2012), former commissioner of finance and administration for the State of Tennessee.
Belmont selects new associate provost/dean
Belmont University has named Jeffery Burgin, current vice president for student affairs at Alabama A&M University, as associate provost and dean of students.
In his new position at Belmont, Burgin will serve as the chief student affairs officer for the University, exercising broad oversight of the University’s student affairs programs and operations. He will be responsible for fostering the building of community among students and between student groups while empowering the staff and students in the Division of Student Affairs to be effective educators and leaders for student success.
Burgin graduated with a B.A. in African American studies/pre-law from the University of Cincinnati, followed by an M.Ed. in college student personnel from Ohio University and an Ed.D. in higher education administration from the University of Alabama. Burgin has been part of the student affairs division at Alabama A&M since 2007 and holds faculty rank at the institution.
Crain Construction adds Philippi, Gregory to team
Jim Philippi and Amy Gregory have joined Crain Construction, Inc., which is celebrating its 80th anniversary in the construction industry.
Philippi joins Crain Construction in preconstruction, bringing extensive experience in both owner representation and commercial construction management. He has worked with several national companies on a variety of healthcare, institutional and commercial projects across the country.
Gregory brings administrative and marketing support experience in the architectural and commercial real estate industry to her new role as executive assistant with Crain Construction.
Cabedge Design hires creative strategist
Cabedge Design, LLC, a subsidiary of Atiba Holdings, LLC has added Leah Sos as creative strategist.
Sos is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning and earned a B.S. in graphic design.
Before joining the Cabedge team, she worked as a designer at Summit Professional Education, and also contributed on projects for The Jones Group and The Harmon Group in Nashville. She also has agency experience in New York, Chicago and Cincinnati.
Frost Brown Todd expands health care team
Jack W. Seal, former associate general counsel at HealthSouth, has joined Frost Brown Todd as a member of the firm.
Seal will focus his practice in the area of healthcare regulatory and transactional matters. At HealthSouth, one of the nation’s largest inpatient rehabilitation providers, Seal represented the company on a wide range of matters, including regulatory, certificates of need, compliance with Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark Law, licensure and certification issues, joint ventures between healthcare providers, and acquisitions and development.
Prior to his time at HealthSouth, Seal practiced with Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz.
Stark to direct Children’s Hospital rehab services
Vanderbilt’s Stacy Stark, D.O., has been named medical director of Pediatric Rehabilitation Services at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, as well as asst. professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Stark previously was at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, where she was medical director of both the Outpatient PM&R Clinic and the Adult and Transitional Spina Bifida Clinic.
Stark is board certified in both pediatric and adult PM&R.
