FRANKLIN (AP) - Nissan is donating $50,000 to the Harpeth River Watershed Association to support its water quality programs.
The funds will help establish a water quality monitoring system for the entire Harpeth River system, which officials say helps the goal of increasing the river's level of dissolved oxygen to meet state standards.
The money will also assist HRWA's River Restoration Program through which hundreds of volunteers are coordinated for stream clean-ups and restoration projects.
HRWA's scientists and materials guide individuals in innovative ways to improve water quality and teach about the unique variety of wildlife found in the rivers of Tennessee.
