Metro giving air conditioners to elderly, disabled

NASHVILLE (AP) — The Metropolitan Action Commission has begun providing free fans and air conditioners to needy seniors, the disabled and households with young children with a severe medical condition.

The Fan and Air Conditioner Program is partially supported by donors who contribute money and new air conditioning units. The state Department of Human Services also contributes.

Applicants must provide proof of income or medical necessity to apply. The application period ends Aug. 30.
