Free Legal Seminars at People’s Law School
Class covers “Renters’ Rights: Students will learn their legal rights as a renter and how to assert them, what to look for in a lease, how to get their landlord to make repairs, how to get their security deposit back and other problems renters face.” Individuals can register for one or several classes through Nov. 15 on a variety of topics, including:
- Nov. 8: Paying for Nursing Home and Home Care: This class provides information about how to get TennCare/Medicaid help for home and community-based services.
- Nov. 15: Social Security Options: Instructors will review how to apply for and obtain Social Security retirement, disability, spouse and child benefits, Medicare health insurance and Supplemental Security Income Disability and old age benefits.

Free Legal Concerns Seminar for Seniors, Caregivers
The Council on Aging of Greater Nashville, the Lawyers’ Association for Women and the Legal Aid Society will be hosting this free session for seniors and their families at the Nashville School of Law, 4013 Armory Oaks Drive. 9-11:30 a.m. The session will begin with a panel of attorneys addressing the details of Medicare and Medicaid, how probate court works, what is involved in conservatorship, and what key legal documents are needed.
