Hands On Nashville has new president & CEO, officers

Hands On Nashville’s board of directors has recognized executive director Brian Williams’ leadership contributions and the nonprofit’s historic capacity growth by changing Williams’ title to president and CEO.

Since joining Hands On Nashville in 2007, Williams has overseen a significant increase in the number of volunteers engaged by the organization. In 2011, Hands On Nashville connected more than 114,000 volunteers to service opportunities, making it one of the largest volunteer resource centers of its kind in the world.

Under Williams’ leadership, the organization has grown to offer more than 400 monthly service opportunities for the general public that address critical community needs, ranging from hunger and homelessness to literacy and animal welfare.

Since last year, Williams has also overseen Hands On Nashville’s successful launch of two direct-service programs that engage volunteers in meeting specific community needs: the Hands On Nashville Urban Farm and the organization’s Home Energy Savings Program.

A Tennessee native, Williams earned his master of social work degree from the University of Tennessee.

Also, the board has elected Justin Graham as its new board chairman. Graham, a managing consultant at C3 Consulting, joined the board in 2009.

Joining Graham in board leadership positions are treasurer Henry Menge, affiliate broker at XMi Commercial Real Estate, and human relations professional and community volunteer Melissa White, who will serve as secretary.

Apple named director of investment fund

Rick Apple has been named Director of Council & Enhanced Tennessee Fund. The C&E Tennessee Fund was established by Council Capital and Enhanced Capital Partners in 2009 and received $14 million in TNInvestco funding to invest in qualifying companies.

Apple will be responsible on a day-to-day basis for all aspects of the investment process, from deal sourcing and screening to portfolio monitoring and reporting. He joined the Tennessee Fund and Council Capital in 2010 while pursuing advanced management and legal degrees at Vanderbilt.

Apple began his career in New York as a consultant with Oliver Wyman, a global financial services consulting firm where he worked with commercial banks, insurance companies, and investment banks, with a special emphasis on risk management and portfolio modeling. He later worked as an analyst in the industrial growth investment banking group at Wachovia Securities, which is now part of Wells Fargo Securities.

DCI Donor Services names new director

DCI Donor Services, Inc. recently named Dean Lichtenfeld as its corporate director of quality systems.

In his new role, Lichtenfeld will oversee regulatory compliance, ensure performance indicators are met and spearhead the development of strategies that reinforce quality within the company.

Lichtenfeld has more than 30 years of clinical and management experience. Most recently, he served as chief executive officer of Med-Staff, Inc./Hobart Medical Solutions, Inc., where he oversaw day-to-day operations and business development.

DCI is an affiliation of organ and tissue recovery organizations that includes DCI Donor Services Tissue Bank, eye banks and organ procurement organizations in the states of California, New Mexico and Tennessee.

Carrigan, Knowles join Pinnacle Financial

Terrill Carrigan and Terry Knowles have joined Pinnacle Financial Partners at the firm’s downtown Nashville office, Pinnacle at Symphony Place.

Carrigan brings 15 years of financial services experience to her role of business loan support specialist. She comes to Pinnacle from Tennessee Commerce Bank, where she was a special assets assistant. Prior roles were with AmSouth/First American National Bank, where she served as a specialized lending analyst, asset based lending financial specialist and commercial banking representative.

Knowles brings more than 21 years of experience to his role of appraisal specialist. Before joining Pinnacle, Knowles owned and operated Knowles Appraisal Services in Murfreesboro, where he was a certified residential appraiser.

Rooftop names new executive director

Rooftop, a local nonprofit that provides rental assistance to Nashvillians in need, has hired Julia Gildemeister as the organization’s new executive director.

Before joining Rooftop, Gildemeister served as manager of human resources and payroll at Harpeth Hall School. She has also previously worked as director of finance and business at Currey Ingram Academy and as senior accountant at Vanderbilt Home Care Services.

Gildemeister has been active in community organizations including West End Day School, Westminster School of Nashville, and YWCA of Nashville and Middle Tennessee. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Salem College and an MBA from Owen Graduate School of Management.

Lifepoint appoints Pool chief nursing officer

Roxana Pool has been named chief nursing officer (CNO) for LifePoint Hospital’s Delta Division, which oversees LifePoint hospitals in North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia, including those within Duke LifePoint Healthcare.

As the Delta Division CNO, Pool will serve as a resource to clinical staff at seven LifePoint and Duke LifePoint hospitals on issues including improving quality measures, patient outcomes, and constituency satisfaction, and enhancing program development and regulatory compliance.

Pool replaces Susan Peach, who was recently named chief executive officer (CEO) of HighPoint Health System with three campuses located in northern middle Tennessee, including Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, Riverview Regional Medical Center in Carthage and Trousdale Medical Center in Hartsville.

Previously, Pool served as interim CEO of Hillside Hospital, a LifePoint facility in Pulaski, Tenn. Prior to that, she served as chief operating officer (COO) at LifePoint’s Southern Tennessee Medical Center for three years and CNO for eight years.

Care Technology names new VP of sales

Care Technology Systems, Inc., a Nashville-based start-up that has developed technology for the aging-in-place industry, has named Jonathan Barnes its vice president of sales.

Barnes has spent 12 years in health care, all with Columbia, Maryland-based Maxim Healthcare Services, a provider of home health care, medical staffing and wellness services.

Care Technology Systems, which was formed last year and won a Tennessee Technology Development Corporation (TTDC) grant as the state’s Best Healthcare Innovation, uses technology to help seniors maintain their independence and lifestyle as they age, while giving caregivers a reliable tool to help them do so.

VUMC’s Hickson to chair safety foundation

Gerald Hickson, M.D., assistant vice chancellor for Health Affairs at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, has been named chairman of the National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF) Board of Directors as well as chairman of the Certification Board for Professionals in Patient Safety.

Hickson is also the associate dean for Faculty Affairs, director of Clinical Risk and Loss Prevention and director of the Center for Patient and Professional Advocacy at Vanderbilt. He will serve a two-year term as chair of the NPSF Board of Directors.

Since 1990, Hickson’s research has focused on why families chose to file suit, why certain physicians attract a disproportionate share of claims and how to identify and intervene with high-risk physicians.

E-discovery specialist to lead DSi operations

Mark Walker, a nationally renowned electronic discovery expert and author with 30 years of experience in the field, has joined Document Solutions, Inc. (DSi) as vice president of operations.

In addition to authoring books on e-discovery and litigation support, Walker has put his expertise to use in litigation involving many of the world’s largest corporations, including Halliburton, Hospital Corporation of America, Intel, Dow Chemical, Miller Beer, SAP, AMD, Exxon, Texas Instruments and Xerox, just to name a few.

Walker comes to DSi from Forensics Consulting Solutions (FCS), an Arizona e-discovery firm where he served since 2007 as senior director of consulting and client services, overseeing all e-discovery and forensic services provided by the firm, as well as consulting with law firms and corporations to develop technology solutions to litigation challenges. Prior to his work with FCS, he served as national director of solutions engineering for e-discovery company RLS Legal Services in Texas.

DSi serves law firms and corporate legal departments nationwide with litigation support services that provides a wide range of traditional and technology-driven services, including electronic discovery, digital forensics, data recovery, early case assessment, web review, consulting, hosting, near de-duplication, photocopying, printing, trial boards, document management, document scanning, imaging, optical character recognition and more.

Arnold take on new role at BOHAN Advertising

BOHAN Advertising has promoted Jon Arnold to vice president and creative director.

Arnold joined the agency in 2009 as group creative director. He is involved with all agency accounts and has had particular involvement with the Pigeon Forge Department of Tourism, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, the Land Trust for Tennessee and the United Methodist Church.

The Nashville Advertising Federation named Arnold the city’s art director of the year at the 2011 Addy Awards.

Arnold, who was associate creative director at Mullen in Greensboro, N.C., before joining BOHAN, started his career at TBWA\Chiat\Day in St. Louis and then was at CORE for more than eight years.

American Pipe hires 2 for Nashville office

American Pipe & Supply has hired Jeff Hagar as its new Nashville branch manager. Hagar has worked in supply and distribution for 15 years in positions ranging from management to sales and operations.

Jeff Lunn has been hired to an outside sales position. Lunn, a native of the Nashville area, has worked in pipe and supply sales for 14 years.
