Watkins appoints Gilbert, Neible to Board of Trust
Watkins College of Art, Design & Film has named two new trustees to its board, Paul D. Gilbert, executive vice president and chief legal officer, LifePoint Hospitals, Inc., and Kim Neible, vice president, distribution services, Caterpillar Financial Services Corporation. They will serve three-year terms.
Trustees re-appointed through June 30, 2015, are Lynn Bennett, Lee Ann Hawkins, Taylor H. Henry (secretary/treasurer), Jerry L. Maynard, II, Eileen N. McGinn, Debbye Oliver, Steve Sirls, Samuel E. Stumpf, Jr., Laura Turner and Waddell H. Wright.

Iroquois Capital Group expands advisory board
Iroquois Capital Group, Inc., a Nashville-based merchant banking/investment banking company that focuses on the health care and financial services industries, has expanded its advisory board with the addition of three experienced executives:
Joe Galante, has more than 40 years of experience in the music industry, starting his career at RCA Records and later becoming the youngest man to lead a major Nashville label when he took over as head of RCA Nashville in 1981. In 1990, he was named president of RCA Records in New York and, four years later, became chairman of RCA Label Group/Nashville. The group became Sony Music Nashville in 2009 with Galante serving as Chairman until his retirement in 2010.
Raymond Pirtle, Jr., has more than 40 years of experience in the financial services industry, serving as a senior banker at J.C. Bradford & Co. and Equitable Securities Corp., and was a founder of Avondale Partners, LLC. In 2005, he left Avondale to form Claridge Company, LLC which represents micro-cap-sized corporations.
Joe Corsaro is the owner and managing partner of the Cleveland, Ohio-based law firm Corsaro & Associates Co., LPA. He has nearly 30 years of experience as an attorney advising businesses and high-net worth individuals on various tax and business planning matters.
Barbershop Society names Monson CEO
The Barbershop Harmony Society, an international music organization that moved its headquarters to Nashville in 2007, has announced that 23-year Society member Martin “Marty” Monson will become its new CEO/Executive Director on Aug. 13.
Monson is currently president and owner of Visual Communication Advisors, a strategic planning consulting firm in Minneapolis, Minn., and was formerly vice president of business development for Glowpoint, a New Jersey telecommunications and teleconferencing company.
He has served as president of the Hilltop, Minn. Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society for the past five years.
The Barbershop Harmony Society, established in 1938, has 29,000 members in North America and nine other countries.
Boyd, Weber Join Metropolitan Bank
Metropolitan recently announced the hiring of Rob Boyd as a commercial managing director and Jenni Weber as client services advisor for the bank in Nashville.
Boyd joins the Metropolitan team with nine years of banking experience in the Nashville market, most recently as a vice president at First Citizens Bank. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Ga. Boyd will initially work out of Metropolitan’s Brentwood location, and once the recently announced West End office opens in late 2012, will work from there.
Weber brings 17 years of banking experience to Metropolitan. She comes from SunTrust Bank, where she served as an officer and financial services representative. As a client services advisor for Metropolitan’s Brentwood office, Weber will work with clients to guide and facilitate their daily banking needs. She graduated from David Lipscomb University and is a course graduate of the Southeastern School of Banking at Vanderbilt.
Care Tech Systems names new VP of sales
Care Technology Systems, Inc., a Nashville-based start-up that has developed technology for the aging-in-place industry, has named Jonathan Barnes its vice president of sales.
Barnes has spent 12 years in health care, all with Columbia, Maryland-based Maxim Healthcare Services, a provider of home health care, medical staffing and wellness services.
The company, which formed last year and won a Tennessee Technology Development Corporation (TTDC) grant as the state’s Best Healthcare Innovation, uses technology to help seniors maintain their independence and lifestyle as they age.
Diabetes Center selects new clinical director
Saint Thomas Health recently named Johnny Wyatt the new clinical director of the Diabetes Center at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tenn. Wyatt previously held the position of diabetes service manager for the Center for Diabetes at Saint Thomas Hospital.
Wyatt earned his master of science in nursing from Vanderbilt University and his doctor of nursing practice degree from the University of Tennessee-Memphis. He is currently pursuing an MBA with a focus in health care administration from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Ill.
INSBANK names Crabtree to board of directors
INSBANK, a Nashville-based bank and mortgage lender, and its parent company, InsCorp, have elected David Crabtree to its board of directors. Crabtree is executive vice president and principal broker at Brookside Properties, Inc., a commercial real estate firm headquartered in Nashville.
Under Mr. Crabtree’s direction, Brookside has developed more than 25 commercial projects valued in excess of $250 million. Throughout his twenty year career, he has brokered sales in excess of $200 million.
Crabtree is responsible for all aspects of Brookside’s commercial property portfolio, such as acquisitions, financing and development. He also oversees brokerage activities—including sales, leasing and property management—for the firm. He’s a licensed real estate broker in eleven Southeastern states and Oklahoma.
Finworth Mortgage, LLC, a subsidiary of INSBANK, has named Shelly Christen as operations manager. In her new role, Christen will handle compliance, loan closings, bookkeeping and other residential loan processes.
Prior to joining Finworth, Christen spent five years as a loan officer assistant with SunTrust Mortgage in Nashville.
Schorkopf joins CapStar leadership
Karen Schorkopf has joined CapStar Bank as head of retail and private banking.
Schorkopf, who has worked in banking in Nashville since 2004, has managed clients with high net worth, nonprofit organizations, small businesses and commercial real estate relationships. Previously, Schorkopf was a vice president at Merrill Lynch in New York, responsible for international credit analysis and all foreign credit departments, managing Merrill’s international credit exposures worldwide and worked in the branch system of First Union (now Wells Fargo).
Schorkopf will oversee all branch operations as CapStar finalizes its merger with American Security Bank & Trust, which will bring its total number of retail banking centers to five in Davidson (2), Williamson (1) and Sumner (2) Counties. She also will develop marketing strategies for CapStar’s private banking department.
Grand Avenue adds to leadership team
Grand Avenue, a Nashville-based ground transportation company, has announced the addition of Dave Arnholt as executive vice president and COO, Barbara Bakich as executive vice president of sales and client services, and Rebecca Kauffman as national affiliate manager.
Arnholt will lead all company operations, including service delivery, fleet management and customer service. He has a decade of experience in operations and marketing for the trucking and transportation industry, serving previously as regional operations manager for Pilot Flying J in Tennessee and the Midsouth.
Bakich oversees all development activities for Grand Avenue. She has 20 years of experience, sorking most recently as global vice president for California-based computer hardware company SGI.
Kauffman is charged with maintaining vital relationships with transportation partners across the country, as well as identifying and cultivating new national affiliates. She joined Grand Avenue in April 2011 as a sales representative.
In the past year, Grand Avenue has moved into a new 65,000-square-foot headquarters in downtown Nashville, has grown its fleet to 58 vehicles and its staff to 80 employees.
