NASHVILLE (AP) — About 100 correctional professionals from across the country are meeting this week in Nashville.

They are attending the 67th annual Deputy Wardens Association Conference through Thursday at the Millennium Maxwell House Hotel. A news release said the gathering is for training and networking.

Deputy Warden Charles Simmons of the Charles Bass Correctional Complex in Nashville has been elected president of the association.

Kevin Murphy, executive director of the association, said the Tennessee Department of Correction "is in the top tier" of correctional agencies in the country.
