Highway Patrol accepting applications for academy

NASHVILLE (AP) - The Tennessee Highway Patrol is accepting applications for the fall session of the Citizens Trooper Academy.

The 10-week academy, with sessions once a week, consists of approximately 30 hours of training. Topics covered include investigations, patrol and homeland security.

The first session is Monday, Sept. 10. The deadline for registration is Aug. 10.

The academy is designed to develop a better understanding of the patrol and its parent agency, the Department of Safety and Homeland Security.
