The Belcourt Theatre board of directors has promoted managing director Stephanie Silverman to executive director. In addition, the board elected new officers for its 2012-2013 term:
Donna Drehmann, president of customer experience consulting firm Listen, Learn, Live, will serve as board chairman.
Van Pond, Jr., architect and principal of Van Pond Architect, will serve as vice-chairman
Bo Spessard, chief operating officer of Emma, will serve as treasurer.
F. Clark Williams, an administrator in the Dean of Students office at Vanderbilt University, will continue to serve as secretary.
Silverman has, for the last five years, has worked as the Belcourt’s managing director. Under Silverman’s management, the Belcourt has experienced strong growth as a nonprofit cultural institution dedicated to presenting the best of independent, documentary, world, repertoire and classic cinema. Silverman is nationally recognized among the film community as a leader in theatre management and is frequently a guest speaker and panel member for national conferences, including the Sundance Institute’s Art House Convergence, Film Forward and the League of Historic American Theatres, among others.
Stites & Harbison adds Bryant as member
Attorney Kenneth M. Bryant has joined Stites & Harbison as a member of the firm.
Formerly the leader of Miller & Martin PLLC’s Transportation Practice Group, Bryant joins Stites & Harbison’s Business Litigation Service Group, where his practice focus is general business litigation. He also represents clients in the transportation industry, in the general defense of clients in class action litigation and financial institutions litigation.
Bryant earned his J.D. from University of Tennessee School of Law in 1987 and his B.A from Vanderbilt University in 1982.
He is the vice chairman of the Conference of Freight Counsel, Southern Motor Carriers Association, and the Transportation Lawyers Association.
New board members for Second Harvest
Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee has named three new members to its board of directors for the upcoming year:

John Flanigan, senior vice president of Global Supply Chain at Dollar General
Ken Watkins, director of marketing at UPS.
Returning to the Second Harvest executive committee will be Eric Kruse (chair), Scott Turner (vice chair), Ann Pruitt (secretary) and Jeff Warne (treasurer).
The finance and investment committee for this fiscal year includes Joe Ivey (past board chair), Jonathan Flack (chair audit committee), Bill Krueger (chair of the Board Management Committee), Ronald Roberts (chair of the Marketing Advisory Committee) and Mimi Vaughn (chair of the Executive Compensation Committee).
Jaynee Day, Chuck Hamilton and Matthew Bourlakas serve as the staff liaisons to the board.
Spitzer joins Regions as commercial manager
Regions Bank has announced the hiring of Nashville banking veteran Ned Spitzer to the position of commercial banking relationship manager. In this role, Ned will be responsible for managing and retaining existing relationships and generating new business in the commercial and industrial market segment
Spitzer most recently served as first vice president of commercial banking for Sun Trust Bank in Nashville. His background also includes positions with First Tennessee, Clayton Torch Fund and First American National Bank. He earned a degree in political science and MBA from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.

Metova promotes Lane to development post
Custom mobile application developer, Metova, Inc., has promoted Dave Lane to director of development. In his new role, Lane will lead Metova’s smartphone and tablet development projects.
Previously, as one of Metova’s lead developers, Lane built mobile and web solutions for some of Metova’s largest clients. He led teams and mentored other developers, giving them the tools needed to create valuable mobile solutions for Android, iOS, BlackBerry and Windows Phone platforms.
Lane earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Tennessee Technological University.
Father Ryan hires new dean of students
Michael La Haie has joined Father Ryan High School as its new dean of stuadents.
La Haie comes to Father Ryan from St. Cecilia Academy, where he has served as dean of student affairs for the last seven years. At St. Cecilia, he supervised all non-academic departments at the school, including athletics, counseling, activities, safety and security. He previously taught math, algebra and social studies in the Metro School System for six years after teaching at Holy Rosary Academy for the previous six years.
A native of Memphis, La Haie earned his B.S. from Memphis State University and his M.Ed from Middle Tennessee State University.
Nashville Area Chamber announces new hire
The Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce has hired Zandra Benefield as a research coordinator within the research and information department.
In her new position, Benefield will serve the Chamber’s mission, members, staff and community stakeholders throughout the Nashville region by creating high-quality solutions to research project needs, inquiries and opportunities.
Benefield joins the team at the Chamber after graduating from Trevecca Nazarene University with a bachelor’s degree in financial mathematics. She brings to the position more than four years of experience with applied research and research projects as well as professional experience at companies including Dollar General and Pioneer College Catering.
BOHAN adds Parson, Higgins to digital team
BOHAN Advertising has expanded its digital marketing staff with the addition of Jeff Parson and Maureen Higgins.
Parson, formerly associate creative director at Intermark Group in Birmingham, is senior art and digital design director.
He has more than a decade’s experience in advertising and has worked for clients such as Toyota, Krispy Kreme, BMW, BlueCross BlueShield of Alabama, Mohawk Flooring and Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs.
Higgins, formerly account supervisor at Mullen Advertising in Boston, joins as digital marketing manager.
At Mullen, she worked on mobile initiatives for Google and was the account lead on GoMo, an integrated program to help business owners understand and implement mobile optimization.
She previously was an account executive at Trahan Burden Charles in Baltimore. She earned a communications/advertising degree from Loyola University in Baltimore.
Concept Technology adds 4 New Employees
IT service provider Concept Technology, Inc. recently announced four new additions to its team: Jon Sullivan and Richard Gericke join as engineers; Lake Lucas will be Concept Technology’s newest sales coordinator; Rachel Knight joins as sales associate.
As engineers, Sullivan and Gericke will provide IT consulting, network maintenance and security and help desk services to small and mid-sized businesses throughout Middle Tennessee.
Before joining Concept Technology, Sullivan was the LAN manager for the Infectious Diseases Division of Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Gericke came from South Coast Copy Systems, a Canon office equipment and document management dealer in Solana Beach, Calif., where he worked as an IT systems analyst.
Tackling the role of sales coordinator, Lucas will assist Concept Technology’s team of sales account executives. Previously, Lucas worked as a retail sales representative and human resources specialist for Absolute Wireless of TN, LLC.
Lucas graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a bachelor’s in mass communication and journalism.
A recent Belmont University graduate, Knight studied the entertainment industry and mass communications.
Grossley to lead Metro Homeless Commission
Metro Social Services Executive Director Renee Pratt has assigned longtime staff member Carolyn Grossley as the interim director of the Metropolitan Homelessness Commission.
“Ms. Grossley has done an outstanding job for the Metropolitan Homelessness Commission in her position as housing and outreach coordinator,” Pratt says. “She has many years of experience in homelessness, and we are extremely happy to have such a qualified person fill the interim director position.”
Grossley, a Navy veteran, has been working in different capacities serving homeless populations for the past 30 years. She has been executive director of a domestic violence shelter and director of a transitional housing ministry in Atlanta. Prior to coming to the Metropolitan Homelessness Commission, she worked as a homeless outreach specialist for the Mental Health Co-operative.
Grossley will fill the position left by Clifton Harris, who resigned as executive director of the Metropolitan Homelessness Commission last month for personal reasons.
