Shawn Morin, who joined Ingram Content Group Inc. in 2009 and has served as the chief information officer since that time, has been named the company’s new Chief Operating Officer.
Morin will now be the executive in charge of managing the company’s commercial activities, systems and operations, including leadership of Ingram’s divisions that serve publishers, libraries, booksellers and educators worldwide, as well as the information technology systems that support Ingram’s services to customers.
The company’s finance, legal and human resources functions will continue to report to John R. Ingram, chairman and CEO.
Ingram’s VitalSource serves more than 2.2 million users on 6,000 campuses in 180 countries. It gives both students and faculty access to tens of thousands of titles from the world’s leading textbook publishers. Ingram recently expanded its mobile capabilities with the release of an Android application. VitalSource is available on a range of devices including tablets, smart phones, laptops and desktops.
Morin came to Ingram from Bass Pro Shops, where he had served as CIO and vice president of information technology. He earned a degree in engineering from the University of South Florida.
North Highland adds to Nashville office
North Highland has added three veteran consultants, Brandon Oliver, Jim Sauerwein and Victoria Stapf, to the company’s Nashville office.
Oliver, a principal at North Highland, was formerly the director of business development and solution design at Procurian. He brings 15 years of experience to North Highland in procurement, supply chain administration and shared services across various industries. He earned a degree in business administration and an MBA from the University of Memphis.
Sauerwein, a senior manager, has more than 20 years of consulting experience within the health care information technology, manufacturing, retail, communications and home building industries. He has business and technical experience with several other smaller consulting companies, providing project management, systems architecture and software configuration services. Before joining North Highland, Sauerwein served as a senior business consultant at InfoWorks, a Nashville-based IT consulting firm. He holds an MBA from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Science degree in computer information and systems technology from King’s College.
Stapf, a senior manager, brings experience in organizational change, human capital strategy and development, knowledge management, marketing, and program management. Prior to joining North Highland, Stapf worked as a marketing coordinator for Time Warner and as a consultant at Accenture. She earned a degree in English literature from Miami University, a master’s degree in English literature from Ohio University and a master’s degree in organizational psychology from Columbia University Teachers College.
Strategic design lead brought in by Cabedge
Matthew Rogers has joined Cabedge Design, LLC, a Web-centric design firm and an Atiba Company, as a strategic design lead.
Rogers, a serial entrepreneur and designer, was partner, principal and creative director of Franklin-based marketing firm Primarily Rye. Previously, he was partner, co-creator and creative director of Digi-Graph Design in Nashville. He holds a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Middle Tennessee State University. A creative and brand specialist, Rogers focus is on research-driven design, leading small teams, connecting and listening to clients, and conceptualizing and refining ideas. His duties will include branding and identity, brand architecture, logo and web design and, on occasion, social media management and digital marketing for clients.
Berry joins NBT as VP, credit risk officer
Kay O. Berry comes to Nashville Bank & Trust after 18 years in commercial retail leasing, most recently with her own firm, and previously with Vision Real Estate, the Harris McDonough Group and the Insignia Retail Group. Her previous banking experience includes approximately five years at Bank of America, formerly NationsBank, where she worked as a commercial real estate loan officer and managed a $50 million loan portfolio. Prior to that, Berry spent three years as a national bank examiner for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
Berry holds real estate licenses in Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama and Mississippi, and is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers. She received her BBA and MBA from Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas.
Avenue Bank promotes McCann, Wooten
Jim McCann and Pete Wooten have been promoted as executive vice presidents of Avenue Bank.
McCann is now executive vice president and director of mortgage lending. He joined Avenue Bank in September of 2007 as a senior vice president and manager of Avenue Bank’s mortgage lending division.
He has more than 38 years of experience in the industry and he manages a team of seven mortgage originators and the support staff for them. In 1996, McCann was named “Mortgage Banker of the Year” by the Tennessee Mortgage Bankers Association.
Wooten has been named executive vice president and director of commercial banking. He started with Avenue Bank in April of 2007, prior to the bank’s official opening in July of that year, as a senior vice president and commercial banking relationship manager.
In 2009, he was promoted to director of commercial banking.

At its founding, Marvin Runyon, LMT chairman of the board, said, “The regional leadership institute was founded to help community leaders develop a unity of purpose and meet regional challenges with regional vision.” Runyon, who passed away in 2004, was the former president of Nissan Motor Manufacturing, U.S.A., TVA chairman and U.S. Postmaster General.
Barge Waggoner names 3 new board members
Ed Walker, PE; Gary C. Clark, RLS; and Ed Mahoney, PE, have been named members of the board of directors at architecture and engineering firm Barge, Waggoner, Sumner, and Cannon, Inc.
Walker has more than 40 years of experience as an engineer. He has been associated with Barge Waggoner since 2008 and is a project manager in the firm’s Nashville office. A resident of Franklin, he earned both a BS degree (1971) and a MS degree (1972) in civil engineering from Tennessee Technological University.
Clark, a project manager in the survey department of the firm’s Knoxville office, has been associated with Barge Waggoner for 38 years. He is a member of the Tennessee Association of Professional Surveyors and the National Society of Professional Surveyors.
Mahoney is director of Industrial and Building Services for the firm and has 34 years of engineering experience. He joined Barge Waggoner in 2009. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a degree in civil engineering (1977) and a master’s degree in civil engineering (1978).
Transit Alliance hires director of programs
Carrie Brumfield has been named director of programs for the Transit Alliance.
Since 2008, Brumfield has served the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce as manager for community development and executive offices, where she played a pivotal role in managing the Chamber’s transit initiatives. She also managed myriad community partnerships and relationships including those with leaders and entities as the Metro Council, Brookings Institution, the Nashville Downtown Partnership, and the Downtown Code committee.
Prior to the Nashville Chamber, Ms. Brumfield worked as a manager of the development team at Newton, Oldacre, McDonald, LLC and as a client services specialist at the American Red Cross.
Pinnacle Partners adds loan analyst
Sonya Hobbs has joined Pinnacle Financial Partners as a loan operations support analyst in the automotive finance area.
Hobbs’ financial services experience spans 25 years. Before joining Pinnacle, she served as a corporate banking relationship representative and office administrator for PNC Bank (National City Bank) in Franklin.
Prior to PNC Bank, she spent 15 years at First American National Bank, where roles included loan operations manager, commercial banking representative and employee relations specialist.
Hobbs is based at Pinnacle’s downtown Nashville office at Pinnacle at Symphony Place.
Also, Ryan Breegle has joined Pinnacle as a financial advisor assistant in the Belle Meade office.
Breegle, with 10 years experience in financial services, earned a degree in business administration from Belmont University.
