NASHVILLE (AP) — The head of the Tennessee Lottery says players in the state will like changes to the Powerball game because of the larger jackpots.

Rebecca Hargrove says there are both bigger prizes and better odds under new rules that just took effect.

Jackpots now start at $40 million, up from $20 million. Overall odds of winning a prize are 1-in-32 instead of 1-in-35. Additionally, the second highest prize level increases from $200,000 to $1 million.

Since Powerball became available in Tennessee in 2004, players in the state have won more than $294.6 million.
