Kimberly Vinson, M.D.
Kimberly Vinson, M.D., assistant professor of otolaryngology, has been named assistant dean for Vanderbilt University School of Medicine’s newly reorganized Office for Diversity.
Vinson, a 2003 VUSM graduate and a faculty member on the surgical service, will focus on diversity among medical students and will work on curriculum to teach about health disparities.
Nashville Symphony announces promotions
Nashville Symphony staff members Misty Cochran and Blair Bodine have been promoted to management positions.
Cochran has been promoted to director of advertising and promotions. She joined the Nashville Symphony in July 2008 as advertising and promotions manager. She previously was the promotions manager at WSM Radio after serving as marketing coordinator at CMT/MTV Networks.
Bodine has been promoted to director of education and community engagement, after having previously served as education and community engagement program manager. Before joining the Nashville Symphony staff, Bodine worked for the music education non-profit LiveConnections.org, which offered free, interactive music programming in partnership with the Philadelphia Orchestra. She is a graduate of Columbia University and received her master’s in non-profit leadership from the University of Pennsylvania.
Baker Donelson adds to management team
Adam Severson is joining Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC as its chief marketing and business development officer.
Severson will lead Baker Donelson’s 21-member marketing team and be responsible for the strategic direction and execution of the business development and marketing initiatives for the firm. Before joining Baker Donelson, he was the director of business development and marketing at Faegre & Benson LLP in Minneapolis.
Severson brings nearly 15 years of legal marketing experience to Baker Donelson. At Faegre & Benson, his team was recognized in 2010 as the top legal marketing department in the country by Marketing the Law Firm, an American Lawyer Media (ALM) publication. He has also been honored with numerous industry accolades by the Legal Marketing Association and the Web Marketing Association. Before joining Faegre & Benson, Mr. Severson was with Dorsey & Whitney LLP and Thomson Reuters.
Severson is active in the Legal Marketing Association, having served three years on its international board of directors and as co-chair of the 2011 annual conference in Orlando.
Moses Recognized by Super Lawyers
Nashville attorney Marlene Eskind Moses, founder and manager of Moses Townsend & Russ PLLC, has been named one of the Top 50 Women Lawyers and one of the Top 100 Lawyers in the 2011 listing of Mid-South Super Lawyers. Moses, who currently serves as vice president on the Board of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, has been recognized by Mid-South Super Lawyers for her family law practice since 2006.
Moses was elected in 2010 to a three-year term as vice president of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (IAML), a worldwide association of practicing lawyers who are recognized by their peers as the most experienced and expert family law specialists in 44 countries.
Moses is a past president of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) and a past president of the Tennessee Supreme Court Historical Society. She has served since 2000 on the Tennessee Bar Association’s Family Law Code Commission.
A graduate of Tulane University with a bachelor’s degree and master’s in social work, she received her law degree from the Nashville School of Law in 1980. Moses has won both the Nashville School of Law Distinguished Alumni Award and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Outstanding Fellow of the Year Award. Moses is a former president of Lawyers Association for Women and a former vice president of the Nashville Bar Association.

Brentwood architect wins remodeling award
Scott Wilson Architect LLC of Brentwood captured the Silver QR Master Design Award 2011 for Detached Structure recently announced in the October 2011 issue of Qualified Remodeler.
The period-style addition of 969 square feet was added to a Governor’s Club home in Brentwood.
Scott Wilson Architect LLC is a Brentwood-based architectural firm specializing in residential and commercial architecture. Wilson is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, and is a Tennessee Professional Architect and a Florida Professional Architect. The firm has received numerous Aurora, Chrysalis and other awards for its projects.
Design projects by the firm have been featured in Remodeling, Open House, Luxury Living, Design/Build Business, Classic American Homes, Country Home, Builder Magazine, At Home Tennessee, Nashville Home and Garden and Nashville Lifestyles magazines.
Skincare center adds 2 to staff
VeroPele SkinCare Center has added Elizabeth Parks, WHNP, ANP, BC as clinic director of its new location at 2122 21st Avenue South. Parks oversees operations of VeroPele, which specializes in non-surgical intervention in a soothing and restorative environment.
Brigette Ziadeh, RN, LMT, aesthetician, also has been added to the staff. Ziadek works in partnership with her clients to develop goal-oriented corrective skin care treatments.
Women surgeons’ group honors VUSM student
Rajshri Mainthia, a third-year student at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, has been named to receive of the Association of Women Surgeons’ (AWS) Patricia Numann Medical Student Award.
Mainthia’s unanimous selection was supported by Ron Eavey, M.D., director of the Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center and Guy M. Maness Professor in Otolaryngology, and James Netterville, M.D., Mark C. Smith Professor and director of the Division of Head and Neck Surgery.
Mainthia had spent a year doing research in Otolaryngology with support from the Vanderbilt Medical Scholars Program. The Numann award was established to encourage and support female medical students pursuing a career in surgery.
Mainthia won’t be the only Vanderbilt award recipient at the association’s October annual meeting.
The AWS Past Presidents’ Honorary Member Award will be presented to John Tarpley, M.D., professor of Surgery, assistant chief of Surgical Service and coordinator of the General Surgery Residency, and his wife, Margaret Tarpley, MLS, senior associate in Surgery. This award is given to an individual or individuals who are supportive of the goals of the association.
