ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Dish Network Corp. says its third-quarter earnings climbed 30 percent, as revenue rose even though the satellite television provider lost subscribers in the quarter.
The Englewood, Colo., company says its net income rose to $319.1 million, or 71 cents per share, in the three months that ended Sept. 30. That's up from $244.9 million, or 55 cents per share, a year ago.
Revenue rose 12 percent to $3.6 billion.
Analysts forecast, on average, earnings of 74 cents per share on sales of $3.64 billion.
Dish says a decline in new subscriber activations led to a loss about 111,000 subscribers in the third quarter compared to last year's quarter. It had about 13.9 million subscribers at the end of the quarter.
