NASHVILLE (AP) — The University of Tennessee will help train food safety officials at the local, state and national levels.
The school's Center for Agriculture and Food Security and Preparedness will join with others in the training.
According to a news release from the university, the center will train food safety officials responsible for inspecting 80 percent of the country's food supply.
Dr. Sharon Thompson, the center director, said the center hopes to provide consistent training that will improve the preparedness of inspectors. She said it's exciting for the school to be on the ground floor making a safe food supply.
