LEBANON (AP) - Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc. has named William W. McCarten as a director, bringing its board to 12 members.
McCarten, founder and chairman of DiamondRock Hospitality Co., is the third new independent director since June. There are 11 independent board members in total, the casual dining chain said Wednesday.
Last week Cracker Barrel announced that board members Robert Hilton and Jimmie White do not plan to stand for re-election at this year's annual meeting and that James Bradford, dean and Ralph Owen Professor for the Practice of Management at Vanderbilt University's Owen Graduate School of Management, would become a board member.
The Lebanon company also said last week that President and Chief Operating Officer Sandra B. Cochran will become its CEO next month as part of a succession plan that has been in the works for two years.
Cracker Barrel has 603 company-owned restaurants in 42 states.
Its stock fell $1.09, or 2.7 percent, to $39.91 in morning trading.
