Neurologist Dr. Alan F. Bachrach has joined Tennessee Neurology Specialists. He specializes in evaluating and treating headaches, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, dementia, seizures and other neurological conditions.
Dr. Bachrach is board certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is board eligible in clinical neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology.
Previously, Dr. Bachrach was in private practice for many years. He also served as a clinical consultant for Unum Disability Insurance Company.
Dr. Bachrach obtained his medical degree from the University of South Florida and a master’s degree and doctorate in clinical psychology from Vanderbilt University. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in psychology and economics from Syracuse University and completed his residency in neurology and internship in internal medicine at Vanderbilt Medical Center.
VUMC’s Daly named to credentialing panel
Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Mike Daly, M.S.N., MBA, was recently appointed to the Nurse Executive Content Expert Panel for the American Nurses Credential Center (ANCC).
In this role, he will be one of eight panelists who will advise the ANCC about the content of its nurse executive board certification, an exam that tests nursing leader competencies. He will serve for three years.
Daly joined Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2000 as a registered nurse in the Surgical Step-Down unit (9N).
Since then, he has earned his Master’s in the Science of Nursing degree and served as a nurse practitioner in the trauma service for three years.
While working as a nurse practitioner, he completed the Owen School of Management’s Master’s in Business Administration program and rose to his current position of assistant administrator for the Surgery and Trauma Patient Care Center.
Tipping now a partner at Neal & Harwell
Elizabeth Tipping has been named a partner at Neal & Harwell, PLC announced Aubrey B. Harwell, Jr., co-founder and managing partner of the law firm. Tipping, who joined Neal & Harwell in 2003, practices in the area of civil litigation.
“Elizabeth has provided excellent legal services to our clients and made valuable contributions to the firm,” Harwell says. “We are very pleased to name her a partner.”
Tipping concentrates her practice on trial work and has successfully tried a number of jury and bench trials. She has experience in a wide range of litigation areas including product liability, business litigation, personal injury, class actions, and other complex litigation matters.
A native of Ontario, Canada, Tipping received her undergraduate degree in Music from Acadia University in Nova Scotia, Canada, in 2000. In 2003, she received her J.D. degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law, where she was named to the Order of the Coif and was a member of the Vanderbilt Law Review.
She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, the Nashville Bar Association, the Lawyers Association for Women, the Tennessee Association for Justice and the American Association for Justice. Tipping is a member of the Board of the Nashville Opera Association, Mur-Ci Homes, Inc., and the Young Lawyers Division of the Nashville Bar Association.
VUMC’s Labosky joins Postdoctoral Affairs
Patricia Labosky, Ph.D., associate professor of Cell & Developmental Biology and of Pharmacology, has been named director of the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.Labosky succeeds Ann Richmond, Ph.D., professor and vice chair of Cancer Biology, who stepped down as director and assistant dean of Biomedical Research, Education and Training (BRET) in July to focus on her research.She earned her Ph.D. in Biology from Wesleyan University in 1992 and was a member of the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania before moving to Vanderbilt in 2006.A faculty investigator in the Vanderbilt Center for Stem Cell Biology, Labosky studies genes and transcription factors that control normal development of the mammalian embryo.
Her work is contributing to efforts to use stem cells to repair or restore damaged tissues.
