We will wait until next week to reveal our Super Bowl prediction, but the matchup is certainly an interesting one.
It features the best quarterback on the planet currently in Patrick Mahomes, already playing in his fourth Super Bowl in seven seasons in the league (six as a starter). Not even Tom Brady made four Super Bowls in his first seven years in the NFL. Mahomes will be trying to lead the Kansas City Chiefs to back-to-back titles.
In their way will be the San Francisco 49ers in a rematch of the title game from four years ago – Super Bowl LIV – in which Mahomes and the Chiefs outlasted the 49ers, who were then quarterbacked by Jimmy Garoppolo.
The Niners now have Mr. No-Longer-Irrelevant Brock Purdy as their quarterback, and while he doesn’t have the flash or the celebrity of Mahomes, he does have the deepest and most talented set of playmakers in the NFL surrounding him.
San Francisco has Christian McCaffrey to run the ball and Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle and Murfreesboro’s own Jauan Jennings available to catch Purdy’s passes.
And while both offenses have the ability to move up and down the field, it could come down to whichever defense can make a big play or two with a turnover, or at least holding the other side to field goals in the red zone.
