The Titans have continued to ride the roller coaster through the early part of the 2023 season, following each loss with a win or vice versa.
What it has added up to so far is a 2-3 record, an 0-1 mark in the division, a perfect record at Nissan Stadium and being winless on the road, dating back to Nov. 17, 2022.
Now comes a trip to London, which would have been a Titans home game, except that the league decided to send this game with the Baltimore Ravens abroad to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Titans find themselves again at a crossroads with the Ravens standing in the way. In most divisions, they could not afford to come out of this with a loss standing at 2-4 heading into their Oct. 22 bye.
But this is the AFC South, where mediocrity reigns, and the Titans – even as inconsistently as they have been – have to consider themselves still in the thick of the chase, regardless of the result.
A win in London would have the Titans right back in the conversation to win the division. A loss doesn’t necessarily end all hope with five division games left and a schedule that does appear to ease somewhat.
Still, it is beyond time for this Titans team to find its identity and learn how to string some wins together. This is a team that has not won two straight games in 11 months. That has to change soon, or the rebuild that the Titans continue to resist and push away will begin to creep back into the picture yet again.
And truthfully, another step or two in the wrong direction over the next couple of weeks, could force the Titans to have to finally confront that situation.
