WeGo makes payment changes

Friday, September 29, 2023, Vol. 47, No. 40

Starting Sunday, WeGo Public Transit is streamlining how riders pay for fares, either through the app-based QuickTicket system or requiring exact change only on the buses.

• Only QuickTicket or exact cash is accepted on fixed-route service.

• Magnetic fare tickets/passes and change cards will no longer be accepted.

• No change, change cards or transfers will be given.

• All-day passes will not be available for purchase on buses themselves.

• Transfers will no longer be issued, requiring cash-paying customers to pay for every boarding.

QuickTicket is WeGo’s new seamless payment system, allowing riders to pay for their fare using a reloadable card, smartphone app or a non-reloadable ticket in all WeGo routes, services and vehicles. The QuickTicket app is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play

WeGo passes with value still attached can be exchanged for QuickTicket credit.

Through Dec. 31, unused multi-use passes and Change Cards totaling $2 or more can be exchanged for QuickTicket stored value. (Exchanges are allowed, but refunds will not be issued.) Through Oct. 31, riders can use Quick Ticket stored value to access a promotional rate of $1 per two-hour pass, or a Best Value daily cap of $2.

Starting Nov. 1, standard rates apply throughout the system: $2 for adult two-hour pass; Best Value daily cap $4, Best Value monthly cap $65.
