Two-term Metro Council member Freddie O’Connell won election as the 10th Metro Nashville/Davidson County mayor Thursday night, outpacing opponent Alice Rolli with 63.8% of the votes cast in a runoff.
“This is our chance to make Nashville a place where you want to stay and can stay, and I want you to stay,” O’Connell told supporters at his election night watch party at Eastside Bowl in Madison, echoing a tagline the mayor-elect used frequently during his campaign.
The balance of the Metro Council’s at-large seats were filled by women after the eight-candidate runoff. Burnley Allen, Quin Evans-Segall, Olivia Hill and Delisha Porterfield join Zulfat Suara as the city-wide elected members of the Council.
In other Metro Council runoff races, Mike Cortese won the District 4 seat, Jeff Eslick will represent District 11 and Tasha Ellis takes the District 29 role.
