Stocks struggled to a mixed finish on Wall Street even as gains for technology companies nudged a few key indexes to more all-time highs.

Banks, energy and industrial companies fell Tuesday, but several tech stocks gained. Facebook added 2 percent.

That was enough for the Standard & Poor's 500 index and the Nasdaq composite to settle at record highs.

The Dow Jones industrial average was weighed down by a drop in Goldman Sachs.

Harley-Davidson slumped 5.9 percent after lowering its forecast for shipments and Netflix soared 13.5 percent after reporting big subscriber gains.

The S&P 500 edged up 1 point, less than 0.1 percent, to 2,460.

The Dow Jones industrial average fell 55 points, or 0.3 percent, to 21,574. The Nasdaq rose 29 points, or 0.5 percent, to 6,344.
