SPRING HILL (AP) — University of Tennessee Extension has scheduled a workshop for people who want to go into farming but don't know how to get started.

Starting Jan. 25, four workshops are scheduled across the state. The same materials will be presented at each event.

The full-day workshop is designed for those with little or no farming background. Program topics include the language of agriculture; a self-assessment of goals, desires and commitments; basic crop and livestock needs; evaluating land suitability; equipment and tools; and potential risks.

Registration to attend is $25 per person.

The first workshop is set for Jan. 25 in Montgomery County. The next is scheduled for March 28 in White County, followed by a May 10 workshop in Grainger County and a July 11 workshop in Madison County.
