Troxel

Scott Troxel of Keller Williams has been elected as the 2017 president of the Greater Nashville Association of Realtors. His one-year term of service will begin Jan. 1.

Officers serving with Troxel for 2017 include Sher Powers (Urbane Residential Specialists), president-elect; Andrew Terrell (Pilkerton), secretary/treasurer; Brian Copeland (Village), vice president; Kristy Hairston (Village), vice president; and Denise Creswell (Pilkerton), immediate past president.

Troxel, a Nebraska native with a music industry background, has more than 23 years of experience in the real estate industry. In addition to his work in the Realtor organization, Troxel is active in city-wide efforts to grow Nashville in a sustainable manner, and he encourages and challenges fellow Realtors to be leaders in this region.

Also elected or appointed to one-year terms of specialized director service were Scott England (E4 Real Estate Group) as president of GNAR’s Dickson chapter and Waddell Wright (Retail Development Group) as commercial committee chair.

Price Lechleiter (Pilkerton) will serve the second year of his two-year term as GNAR’s representative on the MTRMLS (RealTracs Solutions) board of directors.

Four new at-large directors also were elected. Serving three-year terms for 2017-19 include Alexander Brandau (Keller Williams), Steve Jolly (Benchmark), Julie Norfleet (The Wilson Group) and Tom Pierce (Coldwell Banker Barnes).

Others continuing service on the board include Julie Casassa (Zeitlin & Co.), John Clayton (Neal Clayton), Brad Copeland (Village), Stephanie Crawford (Brokers Cooperative), Stephanie Lowe (The Wilson Group), Trish Myatt (Benchmark), Christopher Simonsen (Fridrich & Clark) and Brittney Testerman Griffith (Avenue).

Bewley named 2016 Young Leader of the Year

Tim Bewley, senior vice president and financial advisor at Pinnacle Financial Partners, has been named the 2016 Young Leader of the Year by Young Leaders Council, a Nashville-based nonprofit organization that has trained more than 2,500 men and women to effectively participate on the boards of nonprofit agencies.

The Young Leader of the Year award is presented annually to a graduate of the YLC training program from the past 31 years who has made significant contributions to the fulfillment of the YLC mission, as well as demonstrated a commitment to ongoing community service and board leadership to local nonprofit organizations.

A graduate of YLC Class 53 in 2009, Bewley has served on the YLC board of directors for the past five years, chairing the special events committee in 2012 and the alumni committee in 2016. He also is a member of the 2016 class of the Nashville Health Care Council Fellows program.

He is past-chairman, secretary and board member of AGAPE, Tennessee’s largest Christian counseling organization that also focuses on foster care and adoption, and previously served on the board of directors of Nashville Capital Network, a venture capital fund.

Bewley recently rolled off of the board of the Nashville Chapter of Association for Financial Professionals, where he was president for two years. He was chair of the 2011 United Way SunTrust Campaign, where he was an honoree of the Ingram Award.

He earned a degree in management and finance at Harding University in Arkansas and completed Belmont University’s Executive Leadership Program in 2013. He has been accepted and will begin the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the Wharton School in June 2017.

Beakes honored by Legal Aid Society

Butler Snow’s James A. Beakes III has been named 2016 Volunteer of the Year by the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands.

Beakes earned the 2016 Volunteer of the Year award based on his involvement with the Legal Aid Society’s “desktop clinic.” On behalf of Butler Snow, Beakes partnered with the Society to promote and organize a weekly virtual clinic, providing legal services to those in need in local rural communities including Williamson, Hickman, Cheatham and Dickson counties.

The Legal Aid Society’s Volunteer of the Year award is presented to a lawyer whose work has made access to justice a reality. The award is presented to individuals based on varied criteria including: recognition for long-term assistance to pro bono clients; advocacy in support of access to justice initiatives; innovative action to make legal help available to more individuals.

Beakes earned his undergraduate degree from Duke University and his Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University.

Collins earned her law degree from the University of Mississippi and holds a degree from Belmont University.

Kate Hunter concentrates on investigations and litigation related to inquiries involving alleged violations of the False Claims Act (FCA), the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), various securities laws and other federal statutes.

Hunter previously was an associate in the Washington, D.C., office of Norton Rose Fulbright. Hunter earned her LL.M. and law degree from Duke University School of Law and a B.A. from Tufts University.

Timothy Van Hal advises clients on a variety of corporate, securities and capital markets law matters including advice related to initial public offerings, high yield indentures and redemptions and investment grade debt offerings.

Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, Van Hal practiced at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP in Frankfurt, Germany. Van Hal earned his law degree from Vanderbilt and a B.A. from Georgetown University.

Gill named ambassador for guitar museum

Grammy-winning musician Vince Gill has been named an ambassador for Songbirds Guitar Museum, the world’s largest private collection of rare, vintage guitars. The museum will open to the public in early 2017.

Located next to the Chattanooga Choo Choo, the museum is a guitar-oriented, pop culture experience for the whole family. A Grand Opening Celebration will take place on March 9.

Gill, a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, will showcase his songwriting, guitar playing and vocals at the grand opening celebration. In addition, he will lend his voice and expertise to Songbirds Guitar Museum as it shares its unparalleled collection through its permanent and rotating historical exhibits.

The Museum boasts a complete collection of over 1,700 instruments and accessories. Guitars are grouped by brand, time frame, and linear progression and include acoustic, electric, jazz, bass, mandolin, banjo, and mandocello models. Songbirds Guitar Museum is historically accurate, educational and fun for guitar enthusiasts as well as newcomers to the world of fretted instruments.

The 7500-square-foot museum will feature interactive, educational displays for adults and children, an upgraded all-access tour and an event space for private parties.

Hancock and Whitney Bank expand team

Hancock and Whitney Bank has hired Tate Myers as vice president to help expand its health care banking business.

Having has 18 years in the banking industry, most notably within health care. In his new role, he will be responsible for managing a $500 million health care loan portfolio and advise senior management and key personnel on credit considerations and loan structuring within the healthcare sector.

Previously, Myers served as a credit underwriter and portfolio manager for Franklin Synergy Bank in Nashville. He is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and is president of the board of directors of the ALS Association of Tennessee.

Battle of Franklin Trust elects new officers

The Battle of Franklin Trust Board has announced a new slate of officers. They are:

• Secretary: Tim Kearns

These officers and the full board of directors will work on behalf of The Carter House and Carnton to further preserve the history and heritage of the Battle of Franklin and its historic sites.

Gay honored by League of Women Voters

The League of Women Voters of Nashville has named Barbara Gay the recipient of its highest honor, the Molly Todd Award for leadership in public policy and advocacy initiatives.

Gay has served as the chair of the League of Women Voters of Tennessee State Action Committee and as first vice-president for the League of Women Voters of Nashville for the last two years.

Her career-long experiences working with the neediest children in Metro Nashville Public Schools have translated into her advocacy for legislation that protects our most vulnerable citizens and provides a safety net of social services.

Past recipients of the Molly Todd Award are Jo Singer, Diane DiIanni, Barbara Devaney, Pat Post, Sue Bredensteiner, Karen Weeks, Margie Parsley, Karen Edwards, Phil Schoggen, Mary Frances Lyle, Marian Ott, Berdelle Campbell, Dikkie Schoggen, JoAnn Bennett, Silvine Hudson, Brenda Wynn, Susan Gutow, Silvine Hudson, Sally Levine, Carole Bucy and Jane Eskind.

Todd came to Nashville in the 1940s and mobilized support for public policy issues including racial integration, birth control and the formation of a family service agency. Under her leadership, the League of Women Voters Nashville chapter was reestablished, published the city’s first brochure on voter education, worked to abolish the poll tax and engaged in efforts to consolidate city and county government services.

Franke Kitchen Systems adds to Smyrna team

Franke is bolstering its Kitchen Systems North America leadership team with two new members. Bryan Aown has been named vice president-product management and innovation, and Amy Trump has been named the company’s US controller.

Aown is responsible for leading Franke’s Kitchen Systems product development group responsible for the Franke, KWC and Kindred brands, and translating insights into consumer solutions.

Trump has financial oversight of all four subsidiaries within Franke’s Kitchen Systems division. She and her team will manage a range of responsibilities including monthly sales, general ledger reporting, monthly forecasting, annual budgets and manufacturing costs.
