Warner Music set for up to $2m break for Nashville expansion
NASHVILLE (AP) — Warner Music Group could receive between $1 million and $2 million in incentives for its Nashville expansion, based on job creation.
The Tennessean reports Nashville's Metro Council has voted to award Warner $500 per job added in Nashville annually over the next seven years.
Warner's country music label employs about 100 people on Music Row. Next summer, Warner plans to open a 30,000-square-foot office at Nashville City Center with financial, legal and administrative jobs.
Warner expects the center to employ 175 people initially and 500 by 2020. Future workers will join the company or transfer to Nashville.
Warner can receive $1.75 million over seven years if it creates 500 new jobs from the outset. If it doesn't reach 500 jobs by the end of 2020, future payments would be canceled.
