Haslam campaigns for GOP members in Tennessee House, Senate
NASHVILLE (AP) — Gov. Bill Haslam is hitting the campaign trail on behalf of fellow Republicans in closely divided districts.
The governor went door knocking with state Sen. Steve Dickerson ion Tuesday, and told reporters he has also been appearing on behalf of House Speaker Beth Harwell.
Haslam has also appeared in television ads on behalf of Harwell, who is tied for the longest active membership in the House.
Both Harwell and Dickerson represent Nashville districts where Democrats are hoping to capitalize on Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's struggles as the election draws to a close.
While Harwell has said she supports the GOP nominee, both Haslam and Dickerson have said they will not vote cast their ballots for Trump.
Dickerson faces Democrat Erin Coleman, while Harwell is being challenged by Chris Moth.
