Cihak

Scott Cihak, chief executive officer of Kendall Regional Medical Center, an HCA facility in Florida, has been named CEO of HCA’s TriStar Centennial Medical Center, effective Nov. 28.

Cihak brings more than 20 years of executive leadership within HCA hospitals to his new role. While he was at Kendall, the facility won the Joint Commission Top Quality Award annually from 2011-2015, Truven Analytics Top 100 Hospital Award in 2012 and 2013 (Community Hospital) and 2016 (Teaching Hospital), Leap Frog Group Patient Safety “A” Rating in 2015 and 2016 and State of Florida comprehensive stroke facility approval.

Prior to leading Kendall Regional, Cihak served as CEO of what is today JFK North Campus in West Palm Beach, as chief operating officer of Westside Regional Medical Center in Plantation, Florida, and COO of Palms West Hospital in Loxahatchee, Florida.

Cihak earned a degree in health services administration and later an MBA from Florida International University in Miami.

He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Cihak will replace CEO Heather Rohan, who will transition to her new role as president of HCA’s TriStar Division, which includes TriStar Centennial Medical Center as part of TriStar Health in Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky.

Michael Cottone (associate) focuses on representing clients in complex business disputes and in a variety of tax issues. Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, Cottone served as a law clerk to the Hon. Eugene E. Siler, Jr., of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the Hon. J. Daniel Breen of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. Cottone earned his law degree from the University of Tennessee after graduating from Middle Tennessee State University (2010).

Michael E. Hill (associate) counsels clients on corporate and securities issues including mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions, and securities regulations matters and filings. Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, Hill served as a law clerk to the Hon. Karen K. Caldwell, chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. Hill earned his law degree from the University of Kentucky and a B.A. from the University of Southern California.

Marc Tahiry (attorney) assists clients with commercial real estate transactions with a focus on commercial leasing. Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, Tahiry served as the member/manager of a commercial real estate company where he led the acquisition and redevelopment of multi-family and mixed-use properties in Denver and Nashville. Tahiry earned his law degree from Syracuse University and a B.A. from The Citadel-The Military College of South Carolina.

Valle

Rodrigo N. Valle (associate) advises clients in intellectual property (IP) related matters and technology-based transactions, including license agreements, software and technology service transactions, and mergers and acquisitions involving technology and IP assets. Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, Valle was an associate at Ropes & Gray working out of the Tokyo office. Valle earned his law degree from Boston University School of Law and a B.A. from Vanderbilt University.

Baker Donelson’s Painter named chief of innovation

Baker Donelson has named William S. Painter as the firm’s chief innovation officer, a new position the firm has created to focus on continued innovation in the delivery of client services and technology.

Painter, who previously served as Baker Donelson’s chief strategic planning officer, will oversee several areas of the firm that are key drivers of innovation, including legal project management, knowledge management, information technology, pricing, eDiscovery/practice support, research and non-traditional services including the firm’s consulting subsidiary LegalShift.

During his tenure as Baker Donelson’s chief strategic planning officer, Painter led the development of BakerManage, Baker Donelson’s legal project management system, which was recognized by the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) in 2012 with a Distinguished Peer Award for “Project of the Year.”

GS&P announces changes to executive management

Gresham, Smith and Partners, a design and consulting firm, has announced its board of directors has approved a leadership succession plan for its executive management team.

Alan J. Pramuk, the firm’s board chairman and chief strategy officer, will succeed James W. Bearden as the firm’s chief executive officer. Bearden will remain on the firm’s board of directors as chairman emeritus and provide senior leadership to the firm’s health care market and architecture practice.

Additionally, Randall E. Gibson, division vice president of the firm’s Nashville Design Studio, has been named to the role of chief strategy officer and president of International Business. Gibson will join Pramuk, Brackney Reed, chief operating officer, and Rodney Chester, senior vice president of operations, on GS&P’s executive management team.

Pramuk, P.E., has been on GS&P’s Board since 2011 and was elected chairman in January 2016. His more than 25 years of experience at GS&P includes his current role as chief strategy officer, in which he is responsible for leading the efforts of implementing corporate-level initiatives related to the firm’s long-term direction and smart, sustainable growth. Previous positions within the firm include executive vice president of Aviation as well as roles as division vice president, business development leader, engineer-of-record, project manager and principal-in-charge.

Gibson

As CSO and president of international business, Gibson, P.E., S.E., will be responsible for implementing corporate-level strategies related to the firm’s long-term direction and growth. His responsibilities will also include leadership of the firm’s international business. Gibson is a member of GS&P’s board, a position he was elected to in January 2016. As division vice president, he is focused on the operational performance and growth initiatives of the Nashville Design Studio which serves corporate and health care industry clients.

Gibson joined GS&P in 2013, bringing his more than 30 years of experience in the architecture and engineering industry to the firm.

Barge Waggoner’s Bacon on UT Young Alumni Board

Hanna Bacon, SHRM-CP, Talent Acquisition & Retention Lead at Barge, Waggoner, Sumner and Cannon, Inc., has joined the inaugural Haslam Young Alumni Board at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

In 2016, the Haslam College of Business created the Haslam Young Alumni Board to develop initiatives where students are gained exposure to a variety of industries and assist the college in recognizing the achievements of its young alumni.

Bacon is a University of Tennessee 2012 alumna who holds degree in business administration with concentration in Human Resources Management in 2012.

Simpson

She joined the firm in 2012 and is responsible for firmwide talent acquisition and retention. Additionally, Bacon is the Human Resources Business Partner for the firm’s Environment & Water Resources and Transportation units.

Also, Brad Simpson, PE, has joined the firm as civil engineer. He was most recently with the City of Gallatin’s Engineering Division as project manager.

He is a University of Tennessee-Knoxville graduate with a degree in civil engineering.

Crosslin & Associates expands tax, operations

Crosslin & Associates has hired Jamie Templer and Katie Almond as tax seniors and Karen Catron as the firm’s new human resources generalist.

Templer is a certified public accountant and most recently worked as a tax senior accountant for Cherry Bekaert in Greenville, South Carolina. She earned both her master’s degree in professional accountancy and her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Clemson University.

Almond is a certified public accountant and most recently worked as an assistant manager of the global investments tax group for American International Group. She received both her master’s and bachelor’s degree in accountancy from Auburn University.

Catron most recently served as the human resources/payroll analyst for Noranda Aluminum. She attended Tennessee Technological University and has received the Society for Human Resources Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) designation.

F&M Mortgage hires 3 mortgage originators

Freije

F&M Bank has announced the addition of three new loan originators – Matt Freije, Tim Cornwell and Stuart Johnson – to Brentwood/Maryland Farms Mortgage office.

Freije is a graduate of Vanderbilt University, where he played basketball 2000-2004 and was the all-time scoring leader (1,891) at the conclusion of his career. He was selected to the All-America team in 2004 and went on to play professionally in the NBA and internationally for nine years.

Freije was previously with Finworth Mortgage in Nashville.

Johnson, also formerly with Finworth Mortgage, is a city commissioner in Fairview and previously served as mayor, being first elected at age 23, the youngest mayor in Williamson County history.

Cornwell earned a degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin and brings more than 12 years of mortgage lending experience to F&M.
