NASHVILLE (AP) - The Republican state House member who faces a likely expulsion vote in next week's special legislative session says he will only attend if he is given an opportunity to present his case and face his accusers.

Rep. Jeremy Durham of Franklin lost his Republican primary election in August following the release of a state attorney general's report detailing anonymous allegations of improper sexual contact with 22 women over the course of his two terms in office.

Durham, who has denied most of the allegations in the report, tells WKRN-TV (http://bit.ly/2csQdPI ) that he wants a "fair trial."

The lawmaker said that if the plan is simply to give him a few last words before an expulsion vote, it "sounds more like medieval beheading than anything resembling American constitutional principles."
