Rowland

Maggie Rowland, who has served as a staff attorney at Patterson Intellectual Property Law since 2014, has been named a judicial clerk to Senior Judge John Trice Nixon, U.S. District Court, Middle District of Tennessee.

Rowland earned her J.D. at Belmont University College of Law in 2014. She was the executive articles editor for the Belmont Law Review and served on the executive board of the Women’s Law Student Organization. She graduated from the University of Louisville in 2009.

She is a member of the American Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, and Nashville Bar Association. She is also a member of the Tennessee Intellectual Property Law Association, American Association for Justice and Lawyers’ Association for Women.

McGee joins BOHAN as Public Relations VP

Public relations and marketing veteran Trish McGee has joined BOHAN Advertising as vice president of public relations. She most recently was senior marketing and communications director for the Tennessee Performing Arts Center.

She will work on a variety of agency clients, including the Pigeon Forge Department of Tourism, the account on which the agency was founded in 1990.

Prior to the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, McGee was public relations manager at The Dollywood Company in Pigeon Forge. She previously worked for the Ryman Auditorium and the various entertainment and hospitality business of the former Gaylord Entertainment Company, including the Opryland theme park and the Gaylord Opryland Hotel.

McGee has a mass communications degree from Middle Tennessee State University.

Rucks named president of Leadership Middle TN

Leadership Middle Tennessee, Inc., the regional leadership organization that encompasses a 10-county collective of community leaders in Middle Tennessee, has hired Lee Rucks as president.

Rucks is a Sumner County resident and graduate of North Georgia College. She also is a graduate of two leadership programs: Leadership Anderson (South Carolina) and Leadership Sumner.

Rucks has previously worked with nonprofits, including the Sumner County Family YMCA and the Anderson Area YMCA.

She serves on the Board of Directors of Leadership Sumner County, Sumner County YMCA and the Hendersonville Rotary Club.

VU’s Wanna named editor of otolaryngology journal

George Wanna, M.D., associate professor of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, has been named editor-in-chief of the journal Otolaryngology Case Reports, joining other colleagues at the Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center who edit journals.

Wanna, who is also an associate professor of Neurological surgery, is expected to assume his three-year term as editor-in-chief of the peer-reviewed publication in July.

Wanna will be responsible for naming editorial board members that will consider submissions to the journal and will be responsible for the final editorial content. He will soon appoint associate editors covering all specialties in the field, including head and neck, otology, facial plastic, rhinology and general ET.

Wanna is a member of the Vanderbilt Otology Group, one of the world’s premier centers of excellence for the treatment of ear disorders.

Belmont promotes Schultz to associate athletic director

Renee Schultz is now Belmont University’s associate athletic director for student services and senior woman administrator (SWA).

Schultz manages and oversees the extensive academic support programs offered to Belmont student-athletes, which include weekly, one-on-one academic counseling sessions for new student-athletes, academic advising and class scheduling, tutoring, team-assigned laptops, monitoring class performance, as well as life skills and professional development.

During Schultz’ tenure, Belmont has earned 24 CoSIDA Academic All-America selections, including Evan Bradds and Craig Bradshaw in 2015-16. Moreover, Belmont University is poised to earn the conference academic trophy for the 13th time in the last 15 years, including every year since joining the Ohio Valley Conference.

At the NCAA level, Belmont University annually ranks among the nation’s-best in overall departmental grade-point average, Graduation Rate (GSR) and Academic Progress Rate (APR), which measures eligibility and retention of student-athletes.

In addition, Schultz works closely with coaches in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes, serving as the departmental liaison for admissions and meets with prospective student-athletes and their families during their recruiting visit. She also manages the department’s Academic Enhancement Fund and the student-athlete academic center located within the athletic offices of the Curb Event Center.

A four-year letter winner on the women’s soccer team, Schultz served as team captain in 1999 and 2001 and assistant coach from 2003-04.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology (2002) and master’s degree in sport administration (2004) from Belmont University.

Schultz succeeds Lauren Eads, who accepted a position with Concordia University-Portland.

Communities In Schools hires Nashville liaison

Communities In Schools of Tennessee, the local affiliate of the nation’s largest dropout-prevention network, has hired Erika R. Burnett as the organization’s Nashville affiliate director.

As the Nashville affiliate director, Burnett will be responsible for developing, sustaining and growing the Communities In Schools operations in her region. Her primary roles include leading community oversight, operational oversight and resource development.

Most recently, Burnett was the director of programs for the Leadership for Educational Equity, where she developed regional programs and managed national partnerships. Simultaneously, she worked as an expert/workshop facilitator for the Center for Nonprofit Management in Nashville. Three years prior, Burnett supported Hands On Nashville’s strategic planning, policies and procedures as the senior director of programs.

Burnett earned a B.A. degree in English with teacher certification for grades seven through 12 from Tennessee State University. She then earned a master’s in community development action from Vanderbilt University.

Holland joins Pinnacle in Rutherford County

Tammy Holland has joined Pinnacle Financial Partners as a senior vice president and trust portfolio advisor.

Holland, with 25 years of financial services experience, comes most recently from Hull Wealth Management in Murfreesboro, where she was a wealth advisor. Prior to that she was a financial advisor for Ameriprise Financial Services, a portfolio manager for Fifth Third Bank and a client advisor for SunTrust Bank.

Holland is a graduate of the University of Florida. She earned a Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is licensed in life and health insurance. Holland is an active member of the CFA Institute and the Nashville Society of Financial Analysts.

She is based at Pinnacle’s Financial Center in Murfreesboro.

Payne joins Fifth Third as area sales manager

Brandon Payne recently joined Fifth Third Bank’s Tennessee region mortgage team as area sales manager.

In this role, he manages a team of bankers providing home financing solutions such as conventional, FHA, VA, USDA and jumbo mortgages, to help customers achieve current and future goals.

Payne, who has more than 13 years of financial industry experience, most recently worked as mortgage loan officer with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage Builder Division in Nashville.
