Nashville airport sets single-day departures record
NASHVILLE (AP) - Nashville International Airport set a record this week for the highest number of single-day departures in its history.
More than 23,800 passengers left the city through the airport on Monday following the conclusion of the CMA Music Festival and the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. That's a 15 percent increase over the previous record.
The facility processed more than 16,000 bags on Monday, which also set a record for the airport.
On a typical day, about 18,000 passengers depart from the Nashville airport, which ranks 33rd among the busiest airports in the country.
Airport officials thanked the Transportation Security Administration for fully staffing security lines, which kept waits in security lines less than 10 minutes for most passengers.
