NASHVILLE (AP) — The Nashville Symphony has been awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

According to the symphony, it will use the $25,000 Art Works grant to support two performances and a live recording of John Harbison's "Requiem."

Harbison is an American composer who completed "Requiem" shortly after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The Nashville Symphony and Chorus will perform the work May 12-13, 2017 and later release a recording on Naxos.

Harbison will travel to Nashville the week of the performances to participate in rehearsals and free pre-concert lectures.
