NASHVILLE (AP) — Embattled Republican Rep. Jeremy Durham wants a full House committee to reverse a vote that killed one of his bills.

Durham is a Franklin Republican who resigned as House majority whip and withdrew from the GOP caucus amid an investigation into sexual harassment allegations and other questionable behavior.

Durham is the sponsor of a bill seeking to boost penalties on employers hiring workers in the country illegally. The measure failed in the State Government subcommittee Wednesday when the panel voted to study the measure after the Legislature adjourns.

Durham is making a formal motion for the full State Government Committee to recall and reconsider the bill.

The House clerk's office says that the motion is proper — but unusual. It would take a majority of the 10-member committee to succeed.
