BlueCross donates $1M to Tennessee's Imagination Library
NASHVILLE (AP) — BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is donating $1 million to the state's Imagination Library to help grow the program that provides a free book every month to children from birth to age 5 at no cost to the family, regardless of income.
The health insurance company announced its contribution on Tuesday at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital, which is launching a program to enroll all newborn children at its Nashville facility into the books program.
The Governor's Books from Birth Foundation is a partner to the Imagination Library, which was created by country singer Dolly Parton in 1996. The program has sent more than 25 million books to children in Tennessee.
