Woman faces 5 years for trying to bribe shooting victim
NASHVILLE (AP) - A Nashville woman is sentenced to serve five years in prison for trying to bribe a shooting victim.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Tennessee, Laquanda Boyce and Michael Calloway were assaulting a woman on April 12, 2015, when a man intervened and tried to protect her.
Later that day, Boyce and Calloway returned to the scene, and Calloway shot at the man eight or nine times, striking him once in the leg. Calloway and Boyce then devised a scheme to pay the man $1,200 if he would refuse to testify or give false testimony.
Boyce was sentenced Thursday in the witness tampering conspiracy.
Calloway was sentenced last week to 15 years for being a felon in possession of ammunition, witness tampering and obstructing justice.
