NASHVILLE (AP) — Tennessee first lady Crissy Haslam and the state's health commissioner are headlining events to celebrate the success of a statewide initiative to reduce sleep-related deaths among infants.

State health officials say Tennessee has had a 25 percent reduction in sleep-related deaths among infants since 2014.

Two events are scheduled for Thursday in Nashville. Other state and local officials are planning to attend.

In 2014, Tennessee health officials partnered with the Charlie's Kids Foundation and Tennessee hospitals to help new parents and hospital staff members learn the "ABCs of Safe Sleep."

The Charlie's Kids Foundation will deliver 86,000 copies of the Sleep Baby Safe and Snug board book for Tennessee hospitals to continue providing a copy to each baby born in their facilities in 2016.
