Tennessee unemployment rate remains at 5.6 percent
NASHVILLE (AP) - Tennessee's unemployment rate for November stayed at 5.6 percent for the second straight month.
The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development said in a news release Thursday that the state unemployment rate has declined from 6.6 percent to 5.6 percent during the past year, while the national rate fell from 5.8 percent to 5 percent. The U.S. rate for November was also unchanged from October.
In Tennessee, total nonfarm employment increased by 1,000 jobs from October to November. The largest increases were in financial activities, manufacturing and transportation/warehousing/utilities.
For the year, nonfarm employment increased 48,600 jobs. The largest increases were in trade/transportation/utilities, professional/business services and leisure/hospitality.
