State Library and Archive holding genealogy workshop

NASHVILLE (AP) - The Tennessee State Library and Archives is inviting families gathered for the Thanksgiving holiday to come learn more about their past.

In honor of Family History Day, the Library and Archives will open the Saturday after Thanksgiving for the fifth consecutive year.

Beginning at 9:30 a.m., Manuscripts Archivist Heather Adkins will present an hour-long genealogy workshop for beginners. After the workshop, staff members will be on hand to help visitors with their research until 4:30 p.m.

The workshop is free but reservations are required and must be made by Wednesday, Nov. 25. Reservations can be made online at tslafamilyhistoryday.eventbrite.com.

The Library and Archives is located at 403 Seventh Ave. N., directly west of the State Capitol building in downtown Nashville. Parking is available around the building.
